OK, I'm p'd off again this AM! I just paid my phone bill and the damn
addon taxes are almost as much as the damn phone service!

Fed excise tax .75
Ga. State Tax 1.25
FCC mandatory chg. 6.50
Fed. Svc. Chg. .76
Telecom fee .50
911 access 1.50

Total addons 10.81

Total phone bill 17.80

I don't want to give up my phone service, even though I don't make more than 4 or 5 calls a month at the most, and I don't receive more than that either, but addon charges that are almost equal to the charge for the service is total BS!

I try to cut expenses everywhere I can, but the tax thieves have their paws in my pocket all the damn time!

1. If you don't need it for internet
Then I'd go with a prepaid cell phone service.

2. I agree - it's regressive taxation.
This is as if a bridge charge the same for 18 wheelers as they do for motorcycles, yet the former's burden on the infrastructure is many times the amount.

Think of phone usage. Those making few calls pay the SAME TAX (not percentage) as someone using their phone all the time... The more you use your phone, the LOWER your taxes!

The change from a flat fee structure to a pro-rata fee could easily be made...

3. All I know is every time I pay any utility bills, there's some damn
addon that I can't control!

I've raised my thermostat in the summer and lowered it in the winter. I've stopped driving anywhere except for the once a week grocery trip and if there is something else I HAVE to do, I make sure it's incorporated in that same trip to save on gas. I've replaced all my light bulbs with the energy saving ones. I make almost all my own foods (homemade Hamburger Helper etc)to save on the grocery bill. I grow my own vegies. I ONLY buy meats that are on a special sale and freeze some so I can wait for the next sale.

BUT...these tax thieves that seem to operate under the radar keep on grabbing!

I get so upset with the AH's in Washington that scream about lowering taxes when all they talk about is Inheritance taxes, and taxes on dividends, and income taxes....none of tham affect their hand in MY pocket!

Sorry, but I get this way every time I have to pay this crap and I know damn well that the folks 1/2 a mile away who make $100,000+ a year get all the breaks and nobody seems to GAS about the avg. guy!

4. I complained about this to the phone company
because they told me with my senior citizen discount and no long distance my telephone bill would be 18 dollars. When I got it the price was 31. And there again the explained ....taxes and service charges. Think of what their SERVICE CHARGES for internet service will jump to.
