DU rules: Democratic Candidates and the Democratic Party
Democratic Candidates and the Democratic Party

Constructive criticism of Democrats or the Democratic Party is permitted. When doing so, please keep in mind that most of our members come to this website in order to get a break from the constant attacks in the media against our candidates and our values. Highly inflammatory or divisive attacks that echo the tone or substance of our political opponents are not welcome here.

You are not permitted to use this message board to work for the defeat of the Democratic Party nominee for any political office. If you wish to work for the defeat of any Democratic candidate in any General Election, then you are welcome to use someone else's bandwidth on some other website.

Democratic Underground may not be used for political, partisan, or advocacy activity by supporters of any political party or candidate other than the Democratic Party or Democratic candidates. Supporters of certain other political parties may use Democratic Underground for limited partisan activities in political races where there is no Democratic Party candidate.

Do not post broad-brush smears against Democrats or the Democratic Party.

7. I posted the same in GD Politics recently. Not trying to escalate...
just trying to inform. I had to look up the rule myself, and figured most other DUers didn't make a habit of studying the rules.

5. They will get praise when they deserve it and admonishment
when they don't. We are the party. We're supposed to be the boss. We elected them to serve us.

You mean like the DLC are a bunch of corporatists

Is that the kind of broad brush your referring to?

24. What if...
Just for speculation --

What if someone is a Democrat by registration, talks and acts like a Republican, and runs as an independent against a Democratic nominee -- say for the Senate seat of some Eastern Seaboard State. Can we sling mud at that person then? And if said person is elected as an independent, but he is still supposedly a Democrat, can we still sling mud that this hypothetical individual?

27. Once they run as an independent
then they are not a Democrat, last time I checked. Doesn't matter who they caucus with.

I assume that I could bash Bernie Sanders to no end if I so chose. No?

30. Actually Bernie Sanders was the "special case" because he won the Democratic Primary...
refused to accept the nomination, and the DNC fully backed him. Technically he WAS the "Democratic" candidate in the Senate race.

33. it was funny, when both he and Lieberman were running, the Lieberman supporters...
were trying to call us Bernie supporters out as being hypocritical in supporting him and complaining about Lieberman. We of course, didn't take the bait and in fact told them that the situations were completely different.

31. Question, is this a broad-brush smear of the Democratic party, or just accurate?
We have two political parties whose sole purpose for existing is trying to lock out any alternative viewpoints. You have party "stalwarts" i.e. brownshirts, on both sides browbeating those who dare to think or act different. You have two parties who have an almost 98% incumbency rate in what is supposed to be a democracy, because both are guilty of things like Gerrymandering, gaming the system to ensure they remain in whatever power they have. At the same time, they play politics games with the lives of people who have no fucking clue what the fuck is going on, and we are supposed to support this shit?
