I heard this report on NPR this morning:
Court Martial Due for War Critic Watada
by Martin Kaste
Morning Edition, February 5, 2007 · Lt. Ehren Watada is a hero to some who oppose the war in Iraq for refusing to deploy. But many have criticized his actions, and his court martial begins Monday. If convicted, he could spend four years in prison.NPRDuring the broadcast, NPR was quick to have a wife of an Army officer stationed in Hawaii, who has been ordered back for another tour of duty, declare something to the effect about Lt. Watada, "if he signed up he should go." I almost fell out of bed laughing! How did this wife feel about her husband's boss "signing up for duty" but refusing to show up? Didn't she see the irony in her statement? Didn't NPR see this also? I would have liked NPR to ask her about this, but, alas, the
News Prostitutes for Republicans didn't...and we are the lesser for it. How sad :(
I can't believe this officer is being singled out for courtmartial for doing the exact same thing the Commander in Chief did.
