It's official. Al Gore is - literally - a Rock Star.
After his popularity began to grow, many people started referring to him as a "rock star". But after putting on the biggest concert event in history and having so many rock muscians and fans (as well as other genres) give him such a Star reception all over the world, you have to say that he is literally a Rock Star. It's no longer a metaphor. It's a reality.
Al Gore. Statesman. Mentor. Leader. Rock Star.

AND perhaps soon to be
Nobel laureate. Maybe 'President of the US' if would change his mind and run again... if we could be that fortunate.

Who knew? Well, we all did, didn't we?

Tipper is an amazingly attractive woman. But then I like them mature.

12. Yes, she is. Inwardly even more so than outwardly.
Al is a man of intellect. Tipper is "hot" in her own way, but she can stimulate Al's intellect like no other woman. I don't think we have to worry about Al being able to resist temptation.

Now, if it were me..... but I'm a shallow slut-puppy.

15. Never been a Cameron fan hugely
But put Drew Barrymore and my wife in a room together. Well let's just say they're going to need to become close friends. Drew says she's Bi so I forsee no problem with this. Although I will have to agree to a threesome with Derek Jeter after that for my wife's fantasies sake.

5. Amen to that. Tipper is STILL gorgeous. And Diaz doesn't hold
a candle to her. Especially if you compare her to Tipper when she was young.

22. Plus - Al Gore is no Bill Clinton
It's pretty obvious that Al and Tipper have a very strong marriage based on true love and mutual respect.

The kind of marriage that most of us would want - but only some of us are lucky enough to know.

8. Well, both Garcia and Dylan actually recorded and sold music before being declared rock stars.
However, I recognize that this is not a thread about whether or not Gore is truly a rock star. It's simply pronouncing admiration for Gore, and I'm okay with that...

13. A lot of performers today can't sing or dance without aid.
Many of the Classic Rockers had questionable vocal talents. It's all about "stage presence" and Charisma and how the audience reacts to them.

From the audience reaction yesterday - Al is a true Rock Star.

18. Not to mention, did anyone ever believe they would see scientist rock stars!?
Edited on Mon Jul-09-07 11:49 AM by Uncle Joe
I asked a friend of mine if he had seen Live Earth and he hadn't because he had been working all day. I mentioned some of the bands and musicians having played and we reminisced about their music, much of it we grew up with and the conversation centered on the music. As I stated on a previous thread, I still can't pick a favorite because there were so many good ones.

Now the funny, profound thing is, for at least the past fifteen to twenty years, I've tried to tell him, that I believed Al Gore was right about global warming, and he always listened and rarely disagreed but it felt like he was just humoring me. When I mentioned that twenty two scientists based at what I called an ice station in Antarctica had a group of five which played for the event, while penguins were running about, his whole demeanor changed. He asked me for the first time in a very sincere tone "do you believe this is real?" it's as if a bell went off or a light turned on over his head.

I said absolutely and then I mentioned how Venus was comparable to Earth regarding the amount of carbon, only with Venus the carbon was in the atmosphere instead of buried in the ground and how Venus was three times hotter than Mercury even though Mercury was closer to the Sun. I told him this was all about his two very young daughters' future and probably even us. I believe for the first time in almost two decades of trying, this man finally opened his mind up to the possibility.

The upshot is while I believe the music was too great to rank, those guys down there, freezing their buns off made the biggest impact on my friend, and for empowering them to play in front of two billion people qualifies Al Gore for serious rock star status in my book.

21. Most folks know who really won the 2000 election
For a lot of people it's an uncomfortable truth that they don't like to think about.

For some of us - it's an outrageous and unpunished crime that makes it very hard for us to move on.

But deep down - most of us know who would be President if they had counted every vote in Florida.

Let's all find ways to show our support for Al Gore! :patriot:

Sign the Live Earth Pledge: www.liveearthpledge.org

Then ask all your friends and family to sign it too! :-)

Visit Al's site www.algore.com and read his blog http://blog.algore.com

Sign the petitions at www.algore.org and www.draftgore.com
