Right Wing Launches Dishonest, Misinformed Attacks Against Live Earth
Right now, the Live Earth concert series is ongoing in each of the seven continents. Spearheaded by Vice President Al Gore, the event “marks the beginning of a multi-year campaign…to drive individuals, corporations and governments to take action to solve global warming.”

With more than 2 billion people in 100 countries across the globe expected to tune in, the concerts are “an unprecedented opportunity to ask for the world’s attention long enough to deliver an SOS and then to begin delivering information about the solutions to every single person,” says Gore.

But the right-wing is pushing back against the concerts in an effort to protect the interests of the oil lobby. Leading the charge is the Competitive Enterprise Institute (CEI), a think tank funded by both the oil and auto industries. On MSNBC’s Tucker yesterday, Myron Ebell, the director of energy and global warming policy at CEI, said Gore “makes this stuff up” about global warming and “there is no scientific support for his claims.” Watch it:

After downplaying concerns about global warming, Ebell switched tones and began criticizing the concerts “because they just use too much energy.” In fact, Live Earth organizers worked hard to minimize the energy usage of the entire event.

4. Of course, this is not surprising.
It would surprising if they DIDN'T do this. The best thing to do, I suppose, is to ignore them. Well, call them on their bullshit first, and then ignore them. Really, I don't think it does much good to fight with them. That just gives them power. If you call them on their bullshit and then ignore them, they get frustrated. They need to be marginalized, and big time.

Tucker who?

8. The rightwing is vastly outnumbered
and the simple fact that these creeps are too greedy and too lazy
to come rally behind a cause that affects every living species on this planet
(including them) speaks volumes as to their utter lameness.

The rightwing is over. They have no cause.. no reason for being
except to take for themselves and say no to the rest of us.
The world doesn't need you rightwing.
It's over.

10. See, that's the trouble with facts: they don't give in even when pundits blather.
See, that's the trouble with facts: they don't give
in even when pundits blather. So the Right Wingers
can talk all the like about how Al is just making
it up as he goes, but facts are facts and sooner or
later, we'll all know the truth.

If we choose to believe the pundits, the truth will
make itself known when the do-nothing Congress finds
that the Tidal Basin now is lapping at their toes.

If we choose to believe Al Gore, there *MAY* (emphasis
on "*MAY*") still be time to mend our evil ways. The
downside, of course, is that if we make a vast number
of radical changes and they *DO* happen to be sufficient
to fend off disaster, the blathering classes will say:
"See, we told you there was no risk", conveniently
ignoring all the sacrifices that were made.

13. "Launch" is being pretty generous, don't you think?
A few blubbering on Tucker or Fox can hardly hold a candle to "All 7 continents - over 100 countries and over 2 Billion people". Let them flap around - it's all they have left. The world has moved on without them.

14. OK, so his 2 arguments are:
1. Global Warming isn't real (which it has been proven that it is).

2. The Concerts use too much energy - which would only matter if Global Warming were real.

Amazing how these folks just continue to contradict themselves.

15. They're doing what they're trained to do
Don't you think this misinformation campaign was inevitable? We're in an age where struggles are fought in the battlefields of a highly engineered global media as much as in the streets of Fallujah, the Horn of Africa, or Anyplace, USA. To me, this Live Earth event means the TRUTH has caught up with the age. Yesterday, the main switch was thrown in the hearts and minds of hundreds of thousands - if not millions.

Allot of very fed-up people with real power are about to figure out there's a damn good chance for change. So it goes.

I can understand why the power-brokers might fear a kind of first shot has been fired in the inevitable confrontation of world-views. It's real now. This is the crossroads. It's all about who has the power to choose the future.

I'd be worried too if I were them:
