Why Sen. Chris Dodd Should be the Next President--Motown!
From the Associated Press:

WASHINGTON - Everyone needs a soundtrack — even politicians.

The presidential candidates who addressed the Democratic National Committee's winter meeting Friday got to choose their tunes, and it was an eclectic mix that reflected personal favorites and not-so-subtle messages.

Assuming that the iPod is the Window to the Soul, here are the candidate’s selections:

· Former Senator and 2000 Vice-Presidential candidate John Edwards: "This Is Our Country" –John Mellencamp.

· Sen. Chris Dodd of Connecticut: "Get Ready (Cause Here I Come)" and "Reach Out," –the Temptations.

· Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York: "Right Here, Right Now," by Jesus Jones and "Ain't Seen Nothing Yet" –Bachman-Turner Overdrive.

· Rep. Dennis Kucinich of Ohio: "America the Beautiful" – Katharine Lee Bates, Samuel A. Ward.

For this reason alone, Senator Dodd gets my vote.

Nevertheless, in the spirit of public service, I’d like to suggest campaign songs for the other candidates.

· Former Vice President and 2000 Presidential Candidate Al Gore (who has not announced whether or not he will run for President in 2008—what are you waiting for, Al?): “Did You Ever Have to Make Up Your Mind?” -- The Lovin’ Spoonful.

· Sen. Barack Obama: “Brown-eyed Handsome Man” – Chuck Berry (Thanks to Sen. Joe Biden for the suggestion.).

· Sen. Joe Biden: “What I Meant to Say” – The Bangles.

· Ralph Nader: “Go Your Own Way” – Fleetwood Mac.

This is the article by AP writer Nedra Pickler: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070202/ap_on_el_pr/on_the2008_trail_1

I really hope that someone comes up with an appropriate song for Tom Vilsack. I just couldn't think of anything.

Regards,

LM

3. I would have picked the Beatles song "I'm Looking Through You," or
maybe "Ticket to Ride" for Christopher Dodd.

I'm looking through you, Christopher Dodd. Where did you go? I thought I knew you, Christopher Dodd. What did I know? You don't look different but you have changed. I'm looking through you, and you're not the same.

She's got a ticket to ride
She's got a ticket to ri-i-i-ide
She's got a ticket to ride, and SHE DON'T CARE!

-------

Dodd was a chief architect of the "Help America Vote for Bush Act" of 2002--colluding with the biggest crooks in the Anthrax Congress, Tom Delay and Bob Ney, to destroy our election system by 2004, by turning it over to rightwing Bushite electronic voting corporations and their "TRADE SECRET," PROPRIETARY programming code. He is the Democrat perhaps most responsible for the continuation of the Iraq War--in addition to having voted for it, and for all the funding--and has the nerve to say now, in ringing tones to the DNC, that he would bring the troops home.

Maybe "Mack the Knife" would be a good song for him, too. He is a tool of the bad guys.

5. Then may I suggest...
"Won't Get Fooled Again"? (Who's next is a gold mine. I haven't finished writing "Baba O'Cheney" yet, but I will post it when I have.)

4. Anybody that chooses that "This Is Our Country" song ought to be charged....
with felony bad taste. Gawd I hate that song. Every time that truck commercial comes on I want to toss things at the TV.

6. It's not a horrible song, but it has been run into the ground
and John Cougar Mellancamp is a hard working progressive so you got to cut him some slack on that one.

10. Sing Along with Lobster Martini
Sing this to the melody of Hank Williams' "Move It On Over":

Came in last night and turned on CNN
The headlines were about Iraq again

Move it on over
Surge it on over
Move over Miss Laura
Miss Pelosi's coming in.

Well, I asked my mama and I asked my pa
Whatever happened to 'shock and awe'?

Move it on over
Surge it on over
Move over, Decider
Mrs. Clinton's moving in.
