Is Bush really that stupid or am I missing something?
The blogs are all aflutter about Shrub's radio address today; he's blaming Dems for the failure of his immigration bill. This is totally false, of course, because Republicans actually were to blame for its failure. The Base hated it. So, if he's accusing the Dems of failing to pass it, and the Base hates it, isn't he therefore implying that the Dems and the Base are in agreement? And this will help the Repubs exactly how in November '08? Just askin'.

1. You're giving him too much credit. He's simply reading what was written on the paper.
His staff has to be very careful not to leave notes or corrections in the margins, or use letterhead stationery, or he'd read that, too.

2. LOL. You'd think his aides would realize though...
that accusing Dems of doing something his Base agrees with isn't too savvy politically.

6. Any words more than three syllables in length must be rehearsed beforehand.

But alas, he usually mangles them anyway.

The Dumbya speech writers have the toughest job in DC. They don't have a whole lot to work with.

...Ya gotta be careful there--when you're trying to make sense of Junior's
thought processes. If you attempt to climb inside his head--to
understand him--your neurons may implode and you may develop a strong
desire to start clearing brush and referring to yourself as "the decider".

Proceed with caution...I'm just sayin.

Last time I attempted this, I went on a week-long cocaine and Stoli bender and
somehow, during the hoopla, I married a repressed librarian and started an illegal war.

Yer playin with fire there, darlin.

10. I think the message that gets out to his base
is "Democrats are bad, blame them! It's all their fault!"

That way, while they're disagreeing with Bush, they can still hate Dems. It's kind of a lose/win situation.

13. But with immigration,
he's blaming Dems for failing at something the Base didn't want. It makes no sense.

17. Yeah
I think it's the feeling it represents for the base, that of hating the "liberals." In this way he deflects some of the bad feelings toward himself and spreads it around. I know it makes no sense, but then I truly think his base is largely mentally ill.

That's my take on the psychology of it.

18. You'd think their heads would explode.
The Base hates the immigration bill; they also hate liberals, and think all liberals want to pass the immigration bill. Limbaugh, Hannity, Savage and Coulter have been preaching it. Yet Bush, their demigod, tells them that those exact "Democrat liberals" failed to pass the immigration bill they hate. It makes no sense. How can he think this is a winner politically?

19. I think the base is feeling a lot of hate
Rove, knowing this, tries to "channel" it onto another source. His base are reactionary, hateful people. And so if Rove/Bush keep some of that hate moving toward Dems--even if it makes no sense, it's a win for them...or less of a loss politically. I imagine for the lizard-brained conservative it's about like flashing an image of the word "hate" paired with "Democrat." The message makes no sense, but the effect is the same.

15. Busholini would have failed at runnin' a burger joint.
We all know that he is Pres. only because of his Crime Family and their money connections. Pop Bush wanted Jeb, the cleverest of the Bush brood as Pres. but Jeb didn't have the political experience required for the 2000 Selection.

14. Yep, exactly.
He's holding the Democrats responsible for the failure of his immigration bill. Something he should logically shut up about.
