Grenada gaffe: I'm taking bets that
the US Embassy was involved in this.

You may know that the Caribbean is hosting the Cricket World Cup from March 9th - April 25th. Jebbie was visibly upset that we did not include Miami as one of our venues. Further the US is very upset at the contributions from, China and India. We know the history of interference in Grenada. This is a major embarrassment for Grenada and the entire Caribbean.

A diplomatic gaffe marred Saturday's inauguration of a China-financed stadium on this Caribbean island when a band performed the national anthem of Chinese rival Taiwan.

Chinese Ambassador Qian Hongshan and scores of blue-uniformed Chinese laborers who built the $40 million Queen's Park stadium as a gift were visibly uncomfortable as Taiwan's anthem echoed inside the 20,000-seat venue.

Describing it as a blunder, Grenada Prime Minister Keith Mitchell pledged an investigation into how the Royal Grenada Police Band could have prepared the anthem of Taiwan instead of China.

1. Yes
because of course the US benefits greatly when... um... umm.... sorry, I'm not seeing why the US would give a slug's shit about this.

3. One has nothing to do with the other
Reagan invaded to overthrow a left-wing ruler he didn't like.

Why, 24 years later, this makes the US want to slightly embarrass some low-level chinese dignitaries is a link I'm incapable of seeing.
