Firefighters inhaled as ton of pot burned, chief says
POSTED: 11:07 a.m. EDT, June 22, 2007

EDINBURG, Texas (AP) -- Firefighters who spent half an hour fighting a blaze in which 2,000 pounds of marijuana went up in smoke breathed so much of it that they would have failed a drug test, a fire chief said.

It took more than 35 firefighters, 1,000 gallons of water and five gallons of chemical suppressant to extinguish the warehouse blaze on Wednesday, Fire Chief Shawn Snider said.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents were investigating the origin of the drugs.

The Hidalgo County fire marshal was investigating whether arson was the cause.

Snider said Thursday the firefighters were exposed to so much marijuana smoke that they would not be able to pass a drug test, despite wearing air packs to prevent them from inhaling toxic or hazardous fumes.

1. And?
Drug tests are commonly waivered for false positives, like people who've eaten poppy sead bagels and so on. I'd see no reason why such an excemption wouldn't be made here.

19. Yea, for they have tasted the forbidden fruit of the weed from Satan's Garden
Verily, they have soared on Lucifer's Wing and even frolicked in the lowest depths of the most unspeakable Depravity that can be known to Men or Angels. Their eyes are bloodshot red as Hell's Gate, their urine smokes, and their souls shall be shunned by God forever.

4. This would be funny, but I don't think I'd want to be fighting a fire while stoned
Maybe for a regular firefighter and/or regular stoner it wouldn't be so bad.

And there's got to be a joke in there somewhere involving stop, drop and

43. BLUE BOY!!!!!
TV Guide and Nick at Nite's TV Land voted Dragnet's famous "Blue Boy" episode the 85th-best TV episode of all time in the June 28th issue of TV Guide:

"When Dragnet returned to prime time after an eight-year absence, Jack Webb's hard-boiled cop show had clearly left the '50's behind. The story we were about to see was not only true, it was ripped from the headlines: Sergeant Friday and his new sidekick, Officer Bill Gannon (Harry Morgan), must investigate the spread of a new hallucinogenic drug among L.A. teens.

The episode plays like a more subdued version of "Reefer Madness," highlighted by director Webb's version of a "psychedelic" party and Friday's hip lingo. "You're pretty high and far out. What kind of kick are you on, son?" he grills his prisoner, Benjie "Blue Boy" Carver (Michael Burns), an 18-year-old who paints half his face blue and the other half yellow. Do we have to tell you how "The LSD Story" ends up when the final dum-de-dum-dum is heard?"

http://www.forbisthemighty.com/acidlogic/im_jack_webb.htm

Who are The Worst People In The World? Why, Hippies, of course - Everybody knows that! Luckily there aren't very many of ‘em around anymore and, despite what Ronald Reagan said when he was Governor Of California, we didn't need "a bloodbath" to do it (Reagan never bothered with the Lovable Ol' Nice Guy act until he decided to go for the White House.) Me, I'm hoping that, instead of the complicated nationwide Hippie Holocaust every Red Blooded American was praying for in the late sixties, the Government decided on the more subtle plan of allowing the stinking monkeys to think they had been allowed to get away with it all until the year 2010 or so when they're all about to retire in peace and comfort and we tell em "Fuck you, Gramps.

You pigs can all starve to death in bloody Death Valley. Quit bitching and get in the railway car or we'll just shoot you." Those of you who were not there in the late sixties can't begin to imagine how terrible it really was. You know all those people who say America deserved what it got on September 11th? Imagine if there were one hundred times more of those assholes and if none of them had taken a bath in two or three years. And if they didn't have the Internet and had to resort to Folk Music. It was a bad time.

Jack Webb hated hippies. He believed they were bad people and wanted to do all he could to insure that they remained a late sixties/early seventies phenomenon. And he knew exactly what he had to do - He had to bring back "Dragnet".

"Dragnet" was no mere TV show and Jack Webb was no run of the mill Hollywood ass kiss. "Dragnet" was nothing less than a full scale covert intelligence operation and Jack Webb its Supreme Commander. I wouldn't be surprised to find out one day that - Hell, I would be damn proud - the whole thing was funded by the FBI, the CIA, the INS - All the good people that the pussies who used to be hippies want you to think are more to blame for the World Trade Center attack than Al Qaeda (They hate Al Capp more than they hate Al Qaeda ). Before Jack Webb called it back into ActiveDuty in the late sixties, "Dragnet" had been a hit black and white series in the fifties and a radio series before that.

1000 gallons of water?! A small fire hose will pass that much in a few minutes; the 2.5 inch hose will do it in seconds.

Five gallons of chemical suppressant? Seems like that would also be gone in an eye blink or two.

35 firefighters? What's that, like six trucks? 30 minutes? 1005 gallons? Doesn't make sense.

And "the firefighters were exposed to so much marijuana smoke that they would not be able to pass a drug test, despite wearing air packs to prevent them from inhaling toxic or hazardous fumes." doesn't speak very well of the firefighters' safety gear.

--you know, the one where they are driving the green van made completely from grass. And when it accidentally catches fire, everybody at the battle of the bands, AND Police Sgt. Stedenko (I LOVE that name!) gets totally ripped.

AND C & C win the band contest.

Did something like that happen?

Well, it should have.
