A Thank You to all the fire fighters in our midst
Charleston is burying nine fire fighters today who were killed earlier in the week in the line of duty. You all do a helluva job for all of us in often incredible conditions. A salute and thanks!

3. profound respect for firefighters
especially the folks at Cal Fire (CDF), who keep us the Golden State instead of becoming the Charred State... they put their lives on the line to keep us safe.

-Californians, help them by clearing a 100' perimeter around your buildings.

4. Salute.
When I lived in Southern Cal we had that Topanga Canyon fire where the flames reached all the way to the coast. I spotted smoke rising in the distance that morning from a window at my job near LAX. At night I could see them in the distance where the flames were about 80 feet high along the PCH. My future husband lost his home, car, and work in a flash. The firemen were all over and worked so hard to help people. Afterwards there were hand painted signs along the highway and Topanga Canyon Blvd. that thanked the fire firefighters. I was telling that story to a co-worker and she said, "Well, I guess he must've done something bad for the fire to burn up everything." You know, one of those bitchy types who believe in fake karma. I was pretty surprised and told her how many people died and suffered from that fire and she'd better hope her home never burnt down, or pet die in the fire too, not to mention the firemen putting their lives on the line. I can't understand the shallowness of people sometimes.

Hey Boss,

My uncle was the fire chief of White Plains NY 70's/80's and was the president
of the fire fighters association at one time, and on their magazine cover!!!
My stepdad was a Capt in the Eugene Fire dept 60's/70's and is on disability and suffering
from asbestos poisoning/lung, that he got when he was a firefighter and in the Navy
Firefighters rock, and I ALWAYS salute them when they pass by

in firefighting class on the USS Recruit in Bootcamp in San Diego a long, long time ago. If I recall correctly all of us got "killed" as a lesson learned.

9. Heroes, every day, every hour
:patriot: to firefighters who keep America safe.

Serve their interest by making sure land developers do not run roughshod over reasonable zoning laws designed to keep home building in precarious areas sane and safe. Do not abdicate your rights to make your local governments responsive to your wishes that home building in fringe areas does not set the stage for firefighters losing their lives defending property in indefensible areas. Stay involved and watch the backs of our courageous firefighters.

13. a big thanks to all fire fighters
my job brings me into contact with our local fire authority on a very regular basis. they are fantastic men and women who don't always get the recognition they deserve. any day i get to talk to or be around them is a good day.
