Code Pink protesters were lining the front rows of the hearing room holding protest signs before Deputy Attorney General Paul McNulty was set to testify before a House subcommittee. Members of the group could be seen on a C-SPAN feed holding signs with slogans such as "Fire Liar."
Capitol police officers could be seen speaking to the women, apparently asking them not to display the signs, before the protesters were escorted from the room.
Code Pink formed in 2002 to protest the US war in Iraq. It's name is meant to mock the government's color-coded terror alert warnings. Women in the group have been present at several Congressional hearings protesting the war and other actions of President Bush's administration.
McNulty is testifying about his role in the Justice Department's firing of at least eight federal prosecutors for apparently political reasons. Democrats suspect White House aides, including Karl Rove, were involved in the firing decisions.
