yep, another fuck Lieberman thread.....throwing fundraiser for Susan Collins
from an email.

Dear MoveOn member,

It's absurd—Joe Lieberman is throwing a fundraiser this week to protect Republican Senator Susan Collins of Maine, one of the key pro-war votes and one of the most vulnerable Republican senators. It'll be a typical insider party, filled with lobbyists and CEO types. A fundraiser like this can raise $200,000 in one night.

Rep. Tom Allen, the anti-war hero who's running to replace Collins, isn't getting any help from Lieberman. So he needs some help from us. And if 4,000 of us pitch in $50, we can counter Lieberman and send a true anti-war progressive to the Senate from Maine.

Can you chip in $50 to beat Joe Lieberman's Republican fundraiser?

Rep. Tom Allen voted against the Iraq war in 2002 and against funding the war without a timeline to bring our troops home. He's an anti-war hero taking the fight to a Senate supporter of the war.

We have 11 days left before the federal fundraising deadline. If Tom Allen and Patrick Murphy raise enough, they'll gain more attention from the press and donors. Early fundraising is the most important.

Support anti-war heroes in Congress—and beat Joe Lieberman's fundraiser for a pro-war Republican. Click here to donate:

Thank you for all you do.

4. New Collins vulnerability revealed. Her staff violated the Hatch Act. Evidence online.
Evidence of Hatch Act violations on display on the Internet. What will happen next?

An e-mail about this evidence was sent to the Senator. No response.
Please email also if you can, asking what has been done about her staff's Hatch Act violations.

-----------------Excerpt from thread --------------------------
Here follows the no-brainer, obvious cases that first caught my attention, with the dot.gov e-mails
used in relation to a campaign activity. Others can be easily identified by noting if 1.) the activity
is campaign related, and 2.) either the person is at work, or using a government computer (see the IP numbers).

7. Lieberman needs Collins to stay relevant.
Besides benefitting from a closely divided Senate, Lieberman needs the Republican party to retain its few remaining moderates and not-quite-lunatic conservatives in order to stay a valued commodity in DC. Most of the Republican senators don't like him or his pro-environment, pro-choice politics. They tolerate him because he's a bug in our ass. It's only the old Gang of 14 residuals who dote on him--and then mostly it's the Republican half who do so--Hagel, Collins, Snowe, Lindsey Graham.

Of course it's the Senate, so they're all very cordial to one another. But I doubt Ken Salazar really enjoys returning his phone calls.

8. Hagel's not in the Gang of 14--Ben Nelson is.
Agree with you that Joe Turtleman needs Collins more than she needs him.
