Politico's Allen ignored polling data showing Libby pardon to be extremely unpopular

In a June 17 Politico article on the "{p}ressure" Republicans and conservatives are putting on President Bush to pardon former vice presidential chief of staff I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby, chief political correspondent Mike Allen quoted an anonymous adviser to a 2008 Republican presidential candidate explaining that it would be "politically good" for Bush to pardon Libby because "{t}he very bedrock of believers in conservativism" are "united around" a pardon. At no point in the article, however, did Allen report the most recent polling data on the issue, which indicate that the vast majority of Americans opposes a pardon for Libby.

On March 6, Libby was convicted on federal charges of perjury and obstructing justice in connection with the investigation into the leak of CIA operative Valerie Plame's identity. He was sentenced to 30 months in prison and fined $250,000 on June 5.

In his June 17 article, Allen wrote:

Libby pardon politically good?

1. Er, where was Allen referring to the vast majority of Americans to begin with?
His whole argument is that politically, the hardest of the hard core conservatives are the ones who really care, and they care a lot, and the rest of the public doesn't really matter.

2. There is a problem with your post though.... Bush & company...
have absolutely nothing to loose by the pardon... He is not going to be elected again (might steal the leadership by military law) but he and his crooked Administration have nothing to loose. What are the American people going to do about it? Bush could give a shit about the Republican Party, and/or the Religous Right... So, he really has nothing at all to loose in this...

4. And "Politico" is owned by "Allbritton Family!" BushBots Crime/BAE all of it...
Kind of funny they Launch "Politico" and hand pick the reporters when the Chimpo is going down.

But then...we are surrounded with "Thousand Dollar Bill Reporters" today. :-(

5. Funny how they ignore the will of the people
They're still more concerned with the "very bedrock of believers in conservatism" who equal about 25% of the American population. If these "believers" were so worried about it maybe they could be more concerned with why the Vice President and the White House threw Libby under the train and then turned their back?
