If you could have one political wish come true what would you wish for?
Al Gore/Russ Feingold 2008?

Impeach Bush, Cheney, Gonzo, Condie, the SCOTUS?

End the endless War On Terra?

End the endless War on Drugs?

Dems in Congress stand up to the GOP?

Repeal the Bush tax cuts for the wealthy?

Make all politicans tell the truth 24/7?

All of the above?

2. The American electorate being conversant with The Constitution and the
duties and limitations of the three branches of government, hence making the will of the People able to trump the allure of the dollars offered by the aggregate corporations. Citzens taking responsibility for their right to exist.

33. that we would truly
return to the original principals that established the government, that is a government of the people, by the people and for the people. For far too long politicians have been influenced by money and power and have not served the best interest of those they represent. Truth be told I am feed up with all of the rancor vitriol that is present in Washington. I am saddened by the fact that what should be a country of compassion and caring has turned in to a mecca of greed and consumerism.

or, to be more precise, no governments within which politics could find purchase. No governments at all. Just people....working together, trading together, living together. Hey, ya' gotta' have a dream.

to a parliamentary system, this way those who are too beholden or fearful of voting for a third party would no longer have an excuse. With more points of view in the Congress or Senate maybe those of us not born with a trust fund would be heard.

I'd love to see the US become a Democratic socialist country along the lines of Denmark or Sweden.

11. I have a dream of a green and peaceful america
Edited on Mon Jun-18-07 06:15 AM by Warren Stupidity
a path we could have taken long ago
a caring and tolerant society
living in peace and cooperation with all nations on earth
living in harmony with our planet

In the details, there is no war on drugs, people are free to make their own choices; there is no war on terror, we are not dependent on foreign oil as we long ago moved to alternate sources of energy and built a national mass transportation system that is the envy of the world, consequently we do not have a vast and abrasive military presence around the planet; our social security system cares for us from birth to death with universal health insurance, a modest but adequate pension system, and unemployment insurance that actually protects us from cyclical downturns in economic activity.

Our great project is the planet wide effort to avert catastrophic climate change while bringing the formerly under developed regions of the planet forward to a modern economy, and a decent standard of living. We are the leaders, not the followers of this effort, and we lead by example.

It is a dream of a path not taken. It is a sad dream, it washes over me every now and then, leaving me drenched in the sorrow of my knowledge of lost opportunities.

14. There is much to be sad about these days.
We have been misled by our "leaders" for far too long. We've traded for guns instead of butter too many times. What other creature in our little blue world is more self-destructive than man?

31. For an impartial Justice Department, who would
Pursue every reported case of electoral fraud since 2000,
for the perpetrators (ALL of them) to serve hard time, and
for the sentences for future convictions contain mandatory
fifteen year minimums.

Alternatively, for Kenneth Blackwell and Katherine Harris
to serve life terms for irreparable damage perpetrated upon
the country, and for the two of them to serve their sentences
together in a single cell in the most poorly equipped corrections
facility in rural Romania.

or (not exactly political, but as long as we're in Fantasyland):

For George W. Bush to be required to learn to speak correct
grammatical English, for his lessons to be on prime time national
television, and for his teacher to be Al Gore. His grade at the
end of his term is to be made public, and if he gets less than a
B, his penalty is to move back in with his mother, and for his
brother, Neil, to be in charge of his personal finances.

32. Stripping corporations of "personhood" and any right to influence elections.
This going hand in hand with removing all money from the electoral process. Any candidate with over X number of signatures should be eligible for federal funds to mount a campaign, and ALL candidates should have the exact same campaign budget.

These changes would make a HUGE difference and improve almost every aspect of politics in the US.

Candidates would have to be judged on the merits of their ideas, not by who has the slickest ads.
