Brian Lamb Has Just Elevated Himself In My View
He read an E-Mail on this morning's Washington Journal program on C-Span that was addressed to him. It read (this is from memory and may be slightly off):

"To Brian Lamb, C-Span sucks and so do you" "Have a nice day DICKHEAD"

He read it on-air. I laughed like hell.

2. I agree with that
He is often a target here at DU, and I think simply due to trying to be objective - which occasionally means speaking ill of the left. I watch him weekly, and do not think he skews anything in the direction of the freepers.

3. I disagree - I do think he leans "Right"
I watch C-Span a considerable amount of time and catch Washington Journal most mornings at least for the first hour. I honestly believe it is not just oversensitivity on my part that leads me to believe he often favors the Republican point of view and seems to be much more at ease when interviewing Republicans on air. Its is not generally overt, but it is noticable. By contrast I think Greta is probably the most balanced althought Pedro is my favorite. I see Susan as the closest to a more liberal point of view but once again, it is very much restrained and she is certainl fair to all.

9. Be Careful Thom
I'm pretty sure that Susan used to work for the RNC. She may have a balanced approach on air, but i don't think she's liberal. I could be wrong about that, though.

13. I've read that he himself is a Republican. But he certainly acts objectively
I enjoy CSpan and trust Lamb probably more than any other Republican.

30. Greta must be a new one since I
watched it. There was Susan, Connie, Steve, Paul, and Pedro had just come on board.

There was one guy who I can't remember his name but I liked him for being the most "fair". I noticed his hands were shaking so I'm thinking he had a disease that prevented him from being on air...I'm like.. "Nooooooooooooo!"

4. He also plays 'dumb' to get guests/callers to speak more clearly and explain things.
People here make comments about his questions that are intended to make guests not assume too much about the knowledge level of viewers. This was particularly the case on "Booknotes."

And C-Span gave us Question Time.

6. Fairness And Acurracy In The Media Doesn't Agree With You
No network gives airtime to the Washington Times except for C-SPAN. And this isn't only a quote here or there, Brian brings on goons like Wes Pruden who spend an hour, uninterupted, to spew anti Democratic garbage...or slime up the Clintons...and Brian sits back and lets this stuff go out unchecked and unquestioned. I've never seen him invite the editors of a Village Voice or left-leaning publication with the same coverage.

Then, there's the constant stacking of any liberal or progressive guest with a conservative or Repugnican minder. Rarely do you see an hour with a Randi Rhodes or Joe Connason, but be assured there's always a place for a Coultergeist or some National Standard stenographer...again allowed to spew their bile with little accountability.

Check out the report about C-SPAN by F.A.I.R....www.fair.org...a report C-SPAN has ignored and still refuses to comment on.

7. Iirc, F.A.I.R. issued a report that showed conservatives get more
time on the show than liberals do:

C-SPAN Slanting Right
Washington Journal's guestlist lacks balance

12/19/05

In the December issue of Extra!, FAIR published a study of the guest list on C-SPAN's Washington Journal. Though C-SPAN's "flagship viewer call-in program" prides itself on its reputation for fairness, FAIR's study found that reputation does not reflect reality. But C-SPAN's response thus far has been silence.

Extra! studied Washington Journal's guestlist, tabulating all 663 guests who appeared on the show in the six-month period from November 1, 2004 to April 30, 2005. Guests were classified by gender, ethnicity, party affiliation (if any) and occupation. The study also looked at the think tanks most prominently represented on the show.

10. Well, I watch Brian weekly
and I still find him quite objective.

Just my opinion. But there are two sides, and there are legitimate arguments in the effectiveness the Democratic Party, and the left in general.

14. It certainly didn't speak well of the Savage Wiener fans
Their comments pretty much ran the gamut of calling him and C-CPAN communist, biased, homosexual... oh, and a dickhead. I guess the Savage Wiener's worldview really CAN rub off on those who gravitate to his show.

Brian mentioned that they also get stuff like that from the left, too. "Hey, this is America!"
