Enough of "Symbolic" Dem Votes on Capitol Hill. Stop Acting Like Your Guilty of Something and Take Back the Power.
Submitted by BuzzFlash on Tue, 06/12/2007

A BUZZFLASH EDITORIAL

snip//

Meanwhile, up in Washington, D.C., the Democrats keep running around like three blind mice. They continue to tout "symbolic" votes as victories, when what they need to do is act to remove powers from the Bush cabal, not just boast about toothless roll calls.

We’ve said since we began BuzzFlash in 2000 -- and we’ll say it again -- power is achieved by wielding power, not by retreating from it.

Right now, Bush, Cheney and Rove are still running ruinous foreign and domestic policies. Despite taking over both houses of Congress, due to the will of the people, the Democrats continue to exercise their newfound power with timidity and fearful caution.

The Democratic leadership, we dare say, is afraid to act. They have become the stereotype of hesitancy and waffling that the GOP echo chamber has created about them.

You don’t get the Devil out of your house by continuously "investigating" him – and then claiming you can’t find the smoking gun, when you’ve got bodies littering the committee hearing rooms.

Why is it that the Dems walk around like they are guilty of something, when they have the goods on the Bush Administration right in front of them?

1. symbolic or binding, the results would be the same rejection
this is another whine for impeachment which has no assurance of solving any of the problems most of us are concerned with, including Iraq.

It's all about the panacea, to the rejection of the other processes of governance which are proceeding at our party's direction. There's no concern expressed at all that the panacea might actually be an impediment to achieving those goals folks profess to be so concerned about.

2. Why is it that the Dems walk around like they are guilty of something,
It is quite possible they are guilty of something and the GOP knows about it and is holding it over their heads. Either that or Nader was on to something..

3. It's over. The experiment failed.
We were given a gift of self-governance, and we blew it.

4. For instance, the weak banter from Dems about Iraq
Has anyone read the war news from Iraq? Bridges are being bombed, the bad guys (has anyone figured out exactly who they are?) are moving from area to area avoiding the "Surge"? Saw some news and film this a.m. about Baquba (sp?) 40 mi. North of Baghdad where it appears our guys are just making an appearance and the bad guys are on roof top taking pot shots and occasionally scoring an America hit. It was on CNN and the reporter appeared pissed and disgusted. What kind of war is this? The Dems need to be making big noises about what is truly happeniing over there. That is No. 1, not immigration!
