First CNN, then ABC....now the WASHINGTON POST hiring GLENN BECK?

What is about this bad, unfunny bigoted DJ that makes corporate media execs go ga-ga?

Washington Post Radio considers hiring Glenn Beck
In a June 7 Washington Post article, staff writer Paul Farhi wrote: "Faced with continuing financial losses and stubbornly low ratings for Washington Post Radio," WTWP owner Bonneville International Corp. is "considering" picking up "a show hosted by conservative Glenn Beck." Farhi added: "However, both Bonneville and The Post must agree on all programming decisions." As Media Matters for America has repeatedly noted, Beck -- who hosts a nationally syndicated radio show and a nightly program on CNN Headline News, and joined ABC's Good Morning America as a regular contributor in January 2007 -- has repeatedly spouted inflammatory comments about Muslims, Arabs, Mexicans, and female guests on his radio and television programs, a tendency that went unmentioned by Farhi.

The article quoted Jim Farley, vice president of news for Bonneville, as saying that the station is in need of "more conversational elements" and also included quotes from Joel Oxley, Bonneville's top local executive, who stated, "Beck is an interesting guy. ... He does a good job in some other markets."

2. Yeah the idea is to make Tucker and tweety
look like liberals so their conservative message is easier to swallow.

3. At some point, the sick media needs taking down somehow
by legislation. Neither our country nor it's airwaves are healthy.

He is not that good at this job. I think he is a latter day mockingbird. (Isn't WaPo their first nest?)

6. It's Bonneville Broadcasting....
...a subsidiary of the LDS Church. Overall, Bonneville's a pretty decent company, but their management of the Washington stations has been a joke. Within the last year they destroyed a great Classical station...WGMS, moved the all-news WTOP (one of the better all-news stations in the country) to a weak FM signal and have been screwing around with "Washington Post Radio" that was loaded with restaurant reviews and gratuitious interviews with Post writer. Another wasted radio signal.

7. Do not contact WaPo. Any contact with WaPo will convince them Beck is popular
Emails to WaPo will convince them that Beck will draw controversy because he has so many haters who will increase attention to WaPo.

8. I caught a few minutes of his CNN Headline News show
and I found him to be creepy. I can't think of any other word that better describes him. He paces like someone about to snap, he is wild-eyed, and manic in his delivery. He is not too bright. He makes the most reprehensible remarks (like his comment musing whether Dennis Kucinich had slipped his wife a date rape drug).

I guess maybe that's why he appeals to people who voted for Bush. They like their presidents and commentators as stupid and crass as they themselves are.
