What is nuts is how many time lines are based on 50 years
We hear about cutting in half carbon emissions by 2050 and we may be in Iraq for 50 years . All of these time lines are made by people who won't be alive for 50 years longer or who won't be in office for another two years .

So what have any of these people got to lose by making claims like these . I certainly won't be around for another 50 years .

Presidents make plans far ahead of their life span even when it comes to cutting the massive debt when they will be long gone .

The crazy part is we are so close to a world war that we may never make it two more years if that .

Why make plans and promises when the present is not close to being secure ?

1. 50 years is their strategy, put it in the future so it's off the table
they are masters of this, like the Dubai thing, they delayed it 45 days, then they did whatever they wanted once the attention is
focused elsewhere. You will notice that they do this with everything, the Libby trial, the Surge analysis, the intelligence report
on the run up to the Iraq War, Warrantless Wiretapping. The answer is somewhere over the rainbow.

2. How true!
The question is not whether we will cut emissions in half in 50 years, but how much we promise to cut them in the next year or two years. True -- developing countries have to be at the table when the details are threshed out. China is increasing its contributions to pollution as we speak.

By the way, let's don't just focus on global warming. That is not the only reason to cut toxic emissions of all kinds. The air in Lo Los Angeles is becoming unbreathable. You know that is true when your next door neighbor with whom you have a fleeting but friendly acquaintance complains about the unbreathable air as she says hello after work. It is just a matter of time until people in other parts of the country start complaining.

3. I know , I live in los angeles
When I moved here in 1981 I asked my wife who used to live here what the yellow stuff was in the sky and why my eyes burned , she said it was the smog , well great and now this stuff is starting to look the same again .

Yes , China is now all into getting cars so they can add to this real fast .

I am not going to be here when the ice caps lift the seas but I will be breathing this filth all thanks to bushs de-regulation of air and water quality . I really thought in all the time I've been here we would have a great mass transit system but we don't .
