SAUDI PRINCE BRIBED? - Of Course Cheney Was Involved (BBC)

Bandar bribed? So says the BBC:

A Saudi prince received secret payments from the UK's biggest arms dealer, a BBC investigation has revealed.

BAE Systems made regular payments of hundreds of millions of pounds to Prince Bandar bin Sultan for more than a decade.

.....................
.............

According to Panorama's sources, the payments were written into the arms deal contract in secret annexes, described as "support services".

..........................

December 2006 was when Prince Turki suddenly resigned, and it was reported that Bandar had secretly been meeting with Cheney monthly for the past year http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/12/22/AR2006122201474.html. Did Washington pressure Blair to cover up the BAE investigation, which Blair openly shut down? More from the Guardian, here http://www.guardian.co.uk/baefiles/story/0,,2097149,00.html?gusrc=rss&feed=11 and here http://www.guardian.co.uk/baefiles/story/0,,2097098,00.html. "BAE, with 42% of its potential turnover from the lucrative US arms market, is currently bidding to buy Armor Holdings, a US arms contractor. It has promised since 2000 to abide by the provisions of Washington's Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, which bans payments to overseas public officials to win contracts."

1. Riggs bank
it used to (maybe still does) have a huge building right across the street from the US Dept of Treasury (which is next to the WH.) Not a name that many folks outside of the area are familiar with - but a BIG name in the capitol city.

2. Not anymore
Riggs got busted for some sort of money laundering a bit back, then got picked up for a song by PNC. But yes, it was the DC bank, used to providing special services to government officials, old money and embassies galore. Heck, Lincoln banked there (so did I, but in a different league, of course) Riggs helped finance the Civil War, among other things

5. I saw Blair on BBC this morning. he said, basically:
he WON'T allow inquiry into BAE's payments to Prince Bandar of amounts in the neighborhood of THIRTY MILLION per quarter over a period of years, during which they sold around 40 billion dollars worth of war toys to SA

the British "Serious Fraud" investigator (that's what the office over there is called) interviewed said the tradeoff was looking into Saudi "private finances," which he said they don't like being checked out, haha, with the result of more explosions on British streets!

so, if they look into the seamy side of legal bribes, basically what BAE called the payments, the Saudis will refuse to cooperate in security issues with the Brits

that was the bottom line for Blair: they can do whatever they want, and we'll let them, cause they're HELPING us in the War on Terror.

Just like they did before, during, and after 911, right?

sure would like to see those 28 redacted pages in the 911 Commission Report

7. Hey, if you are going to bribe a multi-billionaire
It costs a lot of money. Even to Prince Bandar, 30 millions pounds a quarter is real money.

8. Blair's response was just astounding: "we're not going to do ANYthing
about it. so suck it, and suck it hard."

Bush was standing next to him, yukking it up as he said he was glad the question was for Blair, and not himself.

IIRC, Bandar got 400 million out of the deal, a mere pittance in commparison to his net worth
