"No clear winner of the debate"... So..if someone WINS, do we get to cancel the election
Edited on Mon Jun-04-07 11:36 AM by SoCalDem
and just declare them the winner and undisputed champion?..Give them the big belt and a hammer to go out and thump Mitt & Rudy ?

Just what do people expect from these stupid exercises in futility known as 'debates"?

These super-early "debates" are little more than soundbyte factories for the opposition :eyes:

If the media types really wanted us to know about the candidates, they would "give" each candidate an hour of time...uninterrupted, to lay out their individual feelings about the issues of the day..

1. And CLEARLY, it wasn't a "debate"
I'm starting to believe it's false advertising to call these candidate Q&As a "Debate". Oh, well. *sigh*

2. No kidding!
It was less that 4 years ago that we still hadn't thought of the 2004 election yet! The "early" debates were in February of 2004! ENOUGH ALREADY!

3. So far I've seen:
Debate Winner - OBAMA!!
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x3298878

Biden won the debate. Hands down.
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x3299184

Craig Crawford: "...until someone finds a way to change things, Clinton owns this nomination race."

Sigh.....it would appear that everyone will have their favorite.

5. Isn't it funny how
the candidates who have the most air time also become the winners?

6. Probably because he's not participating.
It's real easy to say 'my candidate' won when they weren't there.

10. I'm gonna disagree.
I thought the event last night, while certainly not a real debate, what an informative, respectful, and well rounded exchange of ideas. I like to make fun of Wolf Blitzer, but you can't have an event go well and not give due credit to the moderator. I'll still make fun of Wolf Blitzer. He's funny. And he did a pretty lopsided job in policing the candidates. But it was still far and away the best such event I've ever seen and I came away with a much better feeling of the differences between the candidates. It was a lot deeper than simply a sound bite parade like we usually see.

I hope future events can build on this success.
