Looks like it's "Morning Joe" — Scarborough favorite to get morning MSNBC slot
Personally, I think he's miles better than Smerconish or Elder (even though I watched neither of them when they did the gig)...

MSNBC's favorite to replace Imus in the Morning is Joe Scarborough. And WFAN is taking a liking to him too, TVNewser hears.

Scarborough was at WFAN's headquarters in Queens yesterday and today, hosting Morning Joe on TV and radio. The cable net and the radio station may be nearing an agreement to give Scarborough a permanent morning show seat.

MSNBC is feeling good about Morning Joe. On Wednesday, he tied American Morning in the demo between 6 and 9am. He actually beat CNN during the 8am hour and had the second highest rated hour on MSNBC all day. "There's some pretty good momentum behind him," an insider says.

He'll be back in the morning on MSNBC next Wednesday through Friday. The rotation of anchors may be over soon...

4. If he gets the morning slot, what happens to his evening show?
If he gets both, it'll make for one helluva long day. I'd love to see his evening slot go to a liberal. :D

5. Oh good G-d no. Who the hell could possibly start their day with that ass? Maybe this will keep him
off the evening line-up! That's the ONLY upside to him getting that time slot. Maybe they'll put Phil Donahue back on the air in Joe's old time slot? Yeah...riiight. 2 LIBERALS on MSNBC? I somehow doubt it. can't have too much truth on the airwaves! KO and PD??? no way will that ever happen.:(

6. Good, I've given up on CNN AM
Since the O'Briens left?!! I've not been watching CNN, the new team is a snooze and the content is pure fluff and propaganda. Yesterday was final straw, kitty cat collars - a whole segment on them, arrrrgggg. Not much on Joe, but will give him a try.

7. Then They Can Hire Stephanie Miller For Nights
Who care who replaces Imus...other than Imus. But that does open up that hour after Olbermann. Maybe we can push Mr. Abrams and the otehr Powers That Be to find a show that will keep KO's audience...I think a Stephanie Miller or Bill Press would be fun to host an hour food fight. Other suggestions are welcome.

8. What about the dead intern in his office?
Bring Imus back - he didn't leave any dead people in his workplace.

10. He's been mellowing out over the years, and...
is now the kind of conservative a lot of us miss, so I'm not upset. If we have to have conservatives, and in a democracy we do have to have them, better it be Morning Joe than some of the other con artists out there.

In a way, putting a kindly face like his on conservatism does make it even more palatable to many on the fence, but we still need honest conservatives out there to counter the wingnuts.
