What's this I hear about Cheney not releasing names of visitors
to his residence? I just caught a bit of it on TV, but it sounded like he was hiding something. Is it the official residence or his private home?

4. A truck from the company the Secret Service contract with for shredding work...
was caught on film:

I looked that company up in a government contracting database, and I found that it is indeed the contracted shredding company of the Secret Service:
http://www.fedspending.org/fpds/fpds.php?parent_id=188693&sortby=u&detail=-1&datype=T&reptype=r&database=fpds&fiscal_year=&submit=GO

For some odd reason, they also have a contract with the national archives:
http://www.fedspending.org/fpds/fpds.php?reptype=r&database=fpds&record_id=9781007&detail=3&datype=T&sortby=i

Why does the National Archives need to shred stuff, aren't they supposed to be saving stuff for future generations?

8. Why does the National Archives shred?
Because not all records are permanent. In fact the majority of records do not require permanent retention - requisitions, routine purchase orders, tax returns, daily reports summarized in other reports. The important point is that the records series be analyzed, appraised and that a approved disposition schedule is developed, implemented and followed.

5. Supposedly, he's covered by the "Presidential Records Act"
What the 'news' didn't expand on is what prompted the decision in the first place.
