Stubbs forgot she won last year, anyway she downplayed it later in the interview. Maybe she'll run for President the Greens want her.

15. WOW! That would be like
having Joan of Arc serve in Congress. I would do anything to help. However, 2012 is a little far away. Cindy has a good chance in '08 to run for Congress against those despicable Democrats who accepted bribes from contractors (like DiFi, indirectly, through her husband) in last week's bill to fund the war (and escalating it, BTW). The campaign has already started to mobilize people toward this effort. BTW I heard that Cindy wanted to run against DiFi, '06, but Barbara Boxer talked her out of it, because Cindy had a good chance of winning. Nice job, Barbara!

18. First of all, Democratic Underground supports DEMOCRATS not 3rd party members running
to defeat Democrats.

Second, DiFi isn't up for reelection til 2012, IIRC so you don't know what you're talking about.

Third, the bullshit about DiFi's husband is a guilt-by-association smear.

just totally unfair, how can you rail on against a forum? Anyway, we all still owe her a debt of gratitude to Cindy, God Bless Her!

7. Freedom of Speech
is tough, but I would say the Cindy sentiment is at least 50:1 pro Sheehan, it probably should have been stopped, but c'mon alot of Cindy supporters around here, I know I'm one.

17. For the most part, only clueless dolts spouting talking points are banned here.
Edited on Wed May-30-07 08:23 AM by tabasco
There are clearly many republicans posting here who engage in discussion.

Their ideas are smacked down and they move on to fight another day.

That is the marketplace of ideas.

The only ones banned here are not engaging in real discussion or debate.

The price we pay is the aggravation of having to smack down the same dolts over and over again.

Like the shit-for-brains that would call Sheehan an "attention whore."

9. Ya know you're right
she didn't mention DU by name on this interview. On Rhodes last night they both mentioned "our fair blog", but not on this show.

20. It's asinine to rage against DU
It's a public forum not a secret sect of insiders who have all been vetted and briefed...

Do I approve of the rude remark made about Cindy Sheehan by a poster--no, I don't, but it doesn't have a thing to do with me OR Democratic Underground as a whole.

I think it is idiotic that the forum itself is being mentioned and chastised (if that is what's taking place) and as far as the moderators/administrators *allowing something* to go on?
That is also a pile of crap IMO--they cannot possibly monitor every poster 24/7 and how are they supposed to know where to draw the line on posts each and every time?

I wish Cindy Sheehan well in her time of healing and I can understand her sense of disillusionment but I find it WHOLLY unfair if this forum and it's members are being cited as the cause to hang it up.

Just my two cents-

23. Ask yourself who would benefit
Edited on Wed May-30-07 08:57 AM by herbbrown
from trying to bring down Democracy Underground? I'm not sure I know, but whoever would benefit most from it is the guilty party. I agree it's stupid to blame a forum, but really who would benefit? I noticed that Rhandi Rhodes went pretty hard at DU yesterday, who is she doing the bidding for? The DLC? I don't know I'm just asking.

24. Good point
Are there any other websites starting up that are similar to this one?
It may be that one is in the works...that thought also popped into my head.

I don't know if there is market/product motivation or political motivation afloat
but it just seems a really dumb thing for DU to be harped at--it sure doesn't help anything.

14. And while you're at the KPFA.org site, make a contribution
KPFA was founded in 1949 by a group of pacifists who wanted to create an alternative media network to corporate-owned (war-mongering) media.

"Founded in 1949 by Lewis Hill, a pacifist, poet, and journalist, KPFA was the first community supported radio station in the USA. KPFA broadcasts on 94.1 FM and KPFB 89.3 FM, Berkeley, and KFCF 88.1 FM, Fresno, California. Our signal reaches one third of the state, utilizing 59,000 watts.

"Much of our programming is local, original and eclectic, with a well produced mix of news and in depth public affairs, an ongoing drama, literature and performance series, interviews, and reviews. Our music ranges from folk to hip hop, Bach to Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. We travel the region to broadcast live music, demonstrations, and cultural events. The majority of our staff are unpaid community volunteers donating their time and energy to bring you our programming."

It's listener-supported radio at its best, but it can't go on unless it has listener support.

Consider donating: https://ittsui.pair.com/kpfa/support/
