Being critical of the HCR is one thing, but the constant trashing of the Democrats and President is
quite tiresome. I have no idea what they think they hope to accomplish

To some degree it is like a spoiled child who doesn't get their way. I would like to think after the bill becomes law they try to do something productive like let their Congress person know what parts they would like amended, rather then just complain

3. Well, eventually they will either come around and work within the party, or they will self-destruct

2. I just changed my bookmark from the home page to this group for awhile.
There are legitimate things to be proud of and discuss in a positive way.
It's not the bill I had hoped for - I hope the conference bill improves, but when I read the statements of the several politicians that I respect and trust, I can see the reasons to vote for it.

Cheers to the 60 YEA voters!
Saving my Obama kudos until he actually touches the bill.

5. I could not agree with you more. The problem is that it is becoming more of a kamikaze
mission for them, instead of a discussion on improving the bill in conference or after it has becomes law

It is all or nothing, and even though the bill won't help me currently, I want it because it does help 31 million who don't have help now, and provides a basis for the improvement later

12. I'm with you as the Bill stands now, it won't help me
I don't think.

I have BC/BS Medicare Advantage

From what I was reading my premium will go up $180 per month in order for others to get Health Care.

At first I thought ~ wow, that is a huge increase for me.

Then I thought, this is not about ME, this is about ME helping others and if I can change my budget around to do that -- I am blessed.

In my view, it sure would be nice if the millionaires could carry those costs but I didn't see anything about that segment of the population -- did I miss it?

Anyway, I am "too blessed to be stressed" and I really want to help others.

I would have asked the question in the other forum but I know that I would get beaten up the moment I said anything. I feel sad that DU has come to this ~

It is such a relaxing time to be here among friends.

14. Getting the 60 is an accomplishment
When they say Obama didn't pressure Lieberman, they have to be wrong. Lieberman voting for anything good is some sort of miracle.

4. I think there is a variety of things going on
you have some people that have staked their reputations on Obama's failure (by declaring he would be a poor choice of President)

you have others that are not Democrats, but rather are Greens or anarchists and are upset that Obama isn't destroying all corporations.

you have others that just don't have a realistic idea of what can and can't be done

combine that with people who have legit criticism or concerns about the HCR bill and Afghanistan and combine it with the echo chamber qualities of GD and GDP and you get a mob mentality that is doing the cyber equivalent to rioting.

7. Hey, don't forget the socialists

There is an "Obama" thread on SI that starts in Jan of 09 and continues to this day. It's basically turned into a "search the net for articles that bash Obama, then post them in their entirety" (ignoring copyright law) thread. In between the myriad of purely negative articles is an occasional post agreeing and adding more grist for the mill. Nobody is allowed to show any sympathy or support any aspect of what Obama is doing. It's a fascinating study of "people who sit around in their underwear, posting on the internet all day long" :)

Oh, on edit, chlamor (admin and obsessive article re-poster) was Orwellian_Ghost (finally banned here a while back). A few of the others post here as I'm sure you're aware.

(edit - stupid typo)

13. They are so far Left of Reality that it makes me rethink
some of my life long issues that I thought were Progressive.

There anger is beyond belief.

11. It pains me as well~
The anger is coming from someplace deep inside of them and they are blaming all of it on the President.

My mother always tells me, "Don't let unhappy, angry people stop your joy in life ~ always try to be a nice person."

Happiness to All,
goclark

16. these are pragmatic and incremental times
We cannot undermine the party or the Pres. 11 months.....11 months...that is all it has been. people talk and complain as if this was the end of his term and he was a complete failure. Ridiculous thinking and dangerous thinking if this weakens the party.
