Sorbent boom deployed: more than 730,000 feet

Oily water recovered: more than 10.24 million gallons
Surface dispersant used: approximately 685,000 gallons
Subsea dispersant used: approximately 100,000
Total dispersant used: approximately 785,000
Dispersant available: more than 340,000 gallons

"Additionally, they've ensured that BP has already paid out more than $27 million in damages and that no claims have been denied thus far."

"* This better work: "The most critical moment in the oil spill crisis in the Gulf of Mexico is at hand, as BP engineers armed with 50,000 pounds of dense mud and a fleet of robotic submarines are poised to attempt a "top kill" maneuver to plug the leaking well a mile below the surface."

* President Obama will be back in Louisiana on Friday to assess the response to the BP oil spill disaster. In announcing the visit, the White House noted in a statement that the administration "has mobilized one of the largest responses to a catastrophic event in history, with more than 1,200 vessels in the region and more than 22,000 people, including many of the brightest scientific minds from both the public and private sector, working around the clock to mitigate the oil's impact."

* As far as the White House is concerned, there's no doubt this is the worst oil spill in American history".

1. Hello! So when I read that Donna Brazile is sitting on her butt contributing to the nonsense --
-- about a "slow response" -- god help me, I wanna slap her!

2. "They're working around the clock"!! Get it Donna?
That's why I left corporatemediawhoredom in the dust in 2002..I couldn't jump through the tv and ask them why they were being so damn dense.

It would be really helpful if we could only be a spider on the wall and find out why these "media" personalities(questionable) are so robotic most of the time?

4. Speaking of round the clock...
The Louisiana National Guard way back on May 11, for those whose response to the AZ Guard is to send them to the gulf. First of all, a gulf state governor would have to ask for them because Presidents don't deploy the guard. States have to agree to it. And where is this story, the way they cover the guard filling sandbags during a flood?

6. Exactly right.."It's very important"! Thanks for
facts. It would be nice if people knew what they were talking about before they rattled off.

3. Compare to May 1
These are released every single day, there's no reason for the media to ignore them. I still say Obama should have put his personal face on this, as if it were a 9/11. Regardless, that doesn't mean that there hasn't been action all along.

Personnel were quickly deployed and nearly 2,000 are currently responding to protect the shoreline and wildlife—hundreds more than yesterday.
Approximately 75 response vessels have been responding on site, including skimmers, tugs, barges, and recovery vessels to assist in containment and cleanup efforts—in addition to dozens of aircraft, remotely operated vehicles, and multiple mobile offshore drilling units.
More than 275,000 feet of boom (barrier) have been deployed to contain the spill—an increase of nearly 60,000 feet since yesterday. An additional 316,470 feet is available.
More than 1 million gallons of an oil-water mix have been recovered—an increase of approximately 150,000 gallons since yesterday.
Nearly 143,000 gallons of dispersant have been deployed—an increase of more than 3,500 gallons since yesterday. An additional 68,300 gallons are available.
Six staging areas (Biloxi, Miss., Pensacola, Fla., Venice, La., Pascagoula, Miss. and Theodore, Ala., and Port Sulphur, La.) were set up to protect sensitive shorelines.

5. IMV, The "media" ignores anything that doesn't fit into their
current propaganda narrative. They're not there to inform..they're there to give a soapbox to the anti-Obama heads.

Thanks for this information, sandnsea.
