It will be difficult fight for Ms. Golub. Pelosi's been "in there" for long enough to root herself in, and entrench herself securely. Pelosi is a Bushocrat, who every time Bush says "jump" will answer "how high, my lord?" We don't need Pelosi. We need Golub. Please, even if your funds are limited like mine, chip in if only ten bucks to support Ms. Golub's efforts.

They dont just need impeached---they need prosecuted. Untold numbers of people have died as a result of their lies. The fact that some dont want to bother Pelosi because she's the first woman Speaker is TRITE and way down on the list of priorities isnt it??
Isnt there something called RECALL that can be used against ineffective politicians?? They did it to Gray Davis---is that not a possible course of action here?

I was a big supporter of Pelosi at first, but her refusal to start impeachment proceedings really disappoints me and I will not vote for her again. Who cares how much longer they will be there, they should not have one more day to continue their agenda - criminals should be arrested

Shirley Golub is an ordinary citizen, who heard the call of
conscience in her heart, to literally put herself on the table, and
say "As long as I'm on the table, Nancy, impeachment is too." She is
even now inspiring other candidates all over the country to step
forward and do the same thing in their own districts while there is

There is no progressive in the country who doesn't think that Pelosi
MUST be seriously challenged in her own party for the Democratic
nomination in June. Even Cindy Sheehan, who is running as an
independent in the general election in November, has posted a very
graceful statement on her site that she is "not opposed" to a primary
challenge as well, and that "in a perfect world" there would be one
too.

Even were it not for the gross abuses of power and the lies that have
already been committed, if yet a new Constitutional outrage were to
be perpetrated tomorrow, are we to do NOTHING because only a year
remains in the current presidential term? Are we to now say that it's
OK for the resident of the White House to operate as a unmitigated
despot for every last year of the four. And if so, what is to save us
the other three years?

We don't need a year of investigations and hearings to impeach. Every
signing statement that defies each law Congress has passed, which
asserts that law can only "purport" to constrain unprecedented
imperial powers, is an act of contempt against the people the United
States and its Congress assembled.

Any judge in a court of law would instantly haul a person off to jail
upon such a display of contempt. These facts are clearly on the table
and there is nothing to dispute about them. It but remains for
Congress to vote on what to do about it . . . and impeach. Votes in
the House are supposed to take 15 minutes. THAT is how long it REALLY
takes to impeach.

11. She doesn't stand a chance against Pelosi

I'm from SF, a resident of 12 years. I can't foresee this city voting Pelosi out of office, no way, not right after its favorite daughter (already virtually unopposed her last five terms) became this nation's first Speaker of the House. Whatever reservations SF's citizens have with the war etc, she is still greatly loved and respected here and not even modestly assailable by an unknown johnny come-lately. Barring a personal scandal, Pelosi will never lose her seat until she decides to step down.

As far as impeachment goes, I find talk about it ridiculous. YES, of course, America has never had a more impeachable pair than Bush-Cheney and I find their crimes disgusting, but do you realistically think Congress has the numbers to make that happen? they can't even chink Bush's veto armor to get withdrawal dates from Iraq, and an impeachment would be far more controversial and divisive, with final results similar to Clinton's own experience with it (don't forget, the Repubs had higher majorities then than the Dems do now). What does that accomplish? A massive PR campaign against Bush that exonerates him in the end, not to mention the potential of galvanizing the right wing base in this fear-mongered post 9-11 world. sad but true and any political pragmatist like Pelosi knows it. Other than the short term shame and controversy it brings to W, impeachment proceedings accomplish nothing, and actually would probably set us back. Let it go, history will hold him accountable, near history at that....
