Russian military planes flew undetected through the U.S. zone of the Arctic Ocean to Canada during recent military exercises, a senior Air Force commander said Saturday.

The commander of the country’s long-range strategic bombers, Lieutenant General Igor Khvorov, said the U.S. Air Force is now investigating why its military was unable to detect the Russian bombers.

“They were unable to detect the planes either with radars or visually,” he said.

Khorov said that during the military exercises in April, Tu-160 Blackjack bombers and Tu-95 Bears had successfully carried out four missile launches. Bombing exercises were held using Tu-22 Blinders.

I think Mr Putin are a much more capable man when it come to rule a country, then this maniac who believe he is appointed by God to do his bidding, and who have ruined the reputation that US had, for a LONG time.... This man who are in command in US today, have treated to use nuclear devices against other country many times now.. Russia as I know it, have never treated to use nuclear devises against a foreign country after the cold war ended... And they HAVE a lot of nuclear weapons..

Russia can have stealth technology. The whole theory of Stealth, was originally russian.. Already in 1914, a russian scientists was pondering around the idea of aircraft who was almost invisible to what they know about detection system. The report was for many year "dead" because of the revolution, and all that who followed.. But somehow the russian report was translated, and then in US hands... And we know that US have used billions wort of money, to build and maintain a presence with Stealth technology. F117 and B2 spirit are just a few operative aircraft who US have today.. And why should US be the one with Stealth Tech anyway?..

Neither TU95 Bear, TU22Blinder, og TU160 Blackjack is truly "stealth" EVEN that the blackjack have some stealth build into the system, they are maybe favorable to their american counterpart F111 I guess... They had the same mission profile, fly deep into enemy territory and bomb them.. And hopefully come out of the area too...

I doubt that russia for the moment can build aircraft that is truly stealth, it cost a lot of money, and in this time of age I really doubt russia have a Chance to let by when it come to aircraft like this. Russia today is a much more open country then it was 15-20 year ago.. Areas who was "closed" to foreigner are now weary open for business.. And for the most part the closed City's of Russia are no more at all.. Everyone who have try-ed to study what is happened in Russia after breakup of Soviet, know that for the most part the secret City es are gone... As in relict of a distant part

And for the last. Why use the old soviet flag?.. Do you really not know it is 16 year since the soviet flag was fired for the last time, and it is a Long time sine the communist party had some real power in either the Duma or the Kremlin.. This is just fear mongering, and a wish for the old cold war.. Who just wasted a huge portion of resources who should have gone elsewhere, to the best of the people.. If just Churchill have been given a opportunity to make peace between USSR and USA in the 1950s... *Sight*, why waste time of the subject...

No this story is showing that Bush because of his invasions and his missile shield in Poland with the BS that it was to protect Europe from IRAN is really about attacking Russia. Putin was cooperative till then Cold War was over but now that Putin has taken over the Oligarchs oil wells thats when the Cold War started

thing is Putin saw this coming and has declared the Cold War is back baby

What the BIG message Putin is sending our military is and Bush (who doesn't give a frick) is that He has nukes and bombers who can sneak behind our lines and bomb us and are untouched
Like I said the message is we need our airspace to protect our Homeland and our jets are very scarce due to most of them in Iraq
