6. he rapid fires and doesn't stop
and of course, many of us political junkies have heard him say some of this stuff over & over - but I LOVE that he keeps saying the stuff that is VERY important to potentially hundreds of thousands of people that have never heard him speak, who do not know there are nearly a quarter million homeless veterans out there, and they need health & mental care from their injuries suffered in warfare, and I commend the former Senator for standing up boldly for them! He will make a great president!

I can view. It is inconceivable that like Reagan's era, we have so many homeless. But why in the hell are a quater million vets. Can Halliburton kick in some dough for some houses and care?

8. Is this Democratic Underground or John Edwards Underground?
I like some of his ideas, but why is the third place candidate getting almost all of the front page DU coverage? It's getting annoying.

10. This third place candidate
represents the views of many of us here.
We do not follow the lead provided by the corporate media.
It's called Democraticunderground because the mainstream corporate propaganda outlets are nothing more than the mouthpiece for those who want to select our candidates for us.
If you're annoyed here, there are many other outlets that you might find compatible with your viewpoint.
You also have the option of posting your positions and why you support another candidate. Just saying you're annoyed is not enough to sway anyone.

But it isn't representative of the majority of voters.

19. Sadly,
the "majority of the voters" aren't in attendance here. Nothing says this place HAS to reflect what's "out there". We're here to CHANGE what's "out there" if at all possible.;)

You should look into John Edwards, he is totally worth every single word of praise from these people. If you found this forum chances are you have a lot in common with us. We consider ourselves a vanguard, here to alter the outcome of this election if at all possible with our support (for instance, our fundraising drive this Friday).

It's very easy to look into John Edwards. Just type his name into YouTube or go visit JohnEdwards.com. We are looking forward to working with you. Regardless of who the nominee is, we are building a community of likeminded individuals that span a broad cross-section of Americans. We shall be heard, and we HOPE that the American people will be persuaded in time.

Now think about what you just said, and how very CONFORMIST it sounds. Do all of your friends play the same videogames and spend their days on Facebook or Myspace? Do all of your friends listen to the same stupid modern rock bands? Because if so, they will all be voting for the same candidate, most likely. That is called CONFORMITY, and it is the opposite of INDIVIDUALISM and a threat to FREEDOM.

That said, we live in 2007, and the opinions of non-conformists like ourselves can be woven together and amplified by the Internet. We are not going to sit idly by and let this moment in history pass without our using these tools in support of our political will.

There are plenty of Obama and Hillary supporters out there on DU too btw. And never forget Kucinich.

29. Actually it is
The majority of voters on this website support John Edwards. Just because he doesn't raise as much corporate cash as other candidates doesn't mean we should just ignore the man.

11. Then support your candidate.
What is annoying is people whining about it and not being proactive enough to provide the balance.

12. Um, because it's called "Democratic" Underground Not DINO Penthouse
We had to go underground and form a resistance to the status quo of corporatism which is a polite word for fascism.

From what I can gather on the internets, it's part of the NCLB law.

25. I believe the rational for that is...
One of two things....
1.)Military recruiters strategically targeting Community Colleges, Tech Schools, and for the most part schools with students who's parents or they themselves are struggling or at the most barely paying for their schooling. Forcing recruiters to target equally ALL schools would be a move in the right direction to balance the economic divide in military recruiting.

2.) If Yale or Harvard (*1) are getting ANY federal money... they should not receive that money if they have banned recruiters from their campus IMHO. If they are not facilitating an active ROTC program so that lower income kids can find a way to achieve the selected education they wish then they should lose any federal funding.

*1 I am using Yale and Harvard as example. I could be wrong about those two schools and their individual funding, but the point and rational for the question and Johns answer is hopefully realized.
