Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee At Liberty University Convocation Ceremony Explains That Divine Providence Is The Reason His Poll Numbers Are Climbing ... aka God Wants Him To Win

Anyone of the lines by themselves would be fine, but Huckabee pours it on. He said the only reason he is surging in the polls is because of the man upstairs. And he says that no one will understand that until they look to God. It's absolutely over the top for American politics.

1. What bible is he reading?
A "little boy" fed a crowd with 5 loaves and 2 fishes" ??

The bible I read said that Jesus began his ministry at the age of 30.

What's this guy smoking that he won't legalize?

9. The boy with 5 loaves and 2 fishes
I certainly don't agree with Mr. Huckabee's statements; however, the reference to the boy comes from the Gospel according to John, Chapter 6 verse 8 and 9.

"One of His disciples. Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, said to Him, "There is a lad here who has five barley loaves and two small fish, but what are they among so many?"

All of the Gospels mention the Feeding of the 5 Thousand, but only John mentions the boy. Why the author, thought it was important, I do not know.

Miracles do happen, but in the realm of politics, I tend to view such statements with suspicion.

20. Yeah, but...
...it was Jesus who blessed and multiplied the loaves and fishes, even in John's version (6:8-13).

I'm not a believer, but even I can get the story straight!

12. Someone needs to go back to Bible class
Huckabee is insulting his own supporters by telling them that it's divine intervention driving his poll numbers.

In fact it's more likely that a lot of Republican voters don't like the other candidates who are running.

If I were a Christian and a Republican then I would be drawn to Huckabee. Just from the way he comes across.

But as a non-believer I think that ALL Christians are nuts to believe in a supreme being.

A supreme being who created the world and then sent his only son to save the human race.

I mean - what part of that is not nuts, exactly? :eyes:

6. Actually, it is happening because the other Republican candidates are
so bad they make Huckabee look at least better than they are. People just haven't learned how bad he is yet.

14. I didn't expect that when I saw the video.
I thought he made one little comment. He went overboard. "God is the ONLY explanation." I'll give credit to God for a lot, but that comment is way over the top for US politics.

It is unfortunately common, but not redundant.

25. When what some invisible guy in the sky said
becomes a basis for you (generic 'you') trying to judge, control or otherwise influence my behavior (unless I'm intruding directly on your life) then you're a lunatic.

26. What invisible guy in the sky are you talking about and what did he supposedly say?
I don't think that Jesus, if He existed as described was invisible, nor was He in the sky. I think it was the Galilee.

Who tried to control your life? Why don't you just be mad at them instead of dragging billions of harmless and innocent believers through the mud?

18. just what we need, another crackpot thinking God is talking to him.
it's worked so well for us so far!!!! Let's just burn the Constitution and declare ourselves a theocracy right now and get it over with. If the repub get in that's pretty much what's going to happen. And while the rest of the lemmings get stoned basking in the heavenly glow (like an opiate)the neocons will finish raping us and installing the faciist state.

anywhere near the seat of power.

on edit: I guess Fuckabee never considered the free media of his being on TV daily, the friendly puff pieces in the press, and the fact that the frontrunners are deeply flawed as factors.
