Arianna, quoting Jimmy Breslin: "Giuliani is a small man in search of a balcony."

1. When Bush was running
and saying that he was a "uniter, not a divider" and he was a "compassionate conservative" back in 2000, I was one that had grave doubts and misgivings about him. Over the last 7 years my worst fears about him have been proven over and over.

Rudy scares me much more than Bush. Rudy scared me when he "cleaned up" NY, when he rode roughshod over people civil liberties in NYC... and he was just the mayor and when he tried very publicly to remain mayor even as his term expired and he was term limited out. As president, especially with a compliant congress and the executive powers that Bush/Cheney have bestowed on the next president, he really really scares me.

The quote "Giuliani is a small man in search of a balcony." nails it so much.

2. Correction by Associated Press, finally!
The Associated Press has corrected their story that this was based on. I find it odd that it was misunderstood because if you listen to the Guiliani portion he does say Assad, not Osama.

In an Oct. 29 story about Republican presidential hopeful Rudy Giuliani criticizing Democrats on Middle Eastern policy, The Associated Press erroneously reported Giuliani's mention of Syrian President Bashar Assad as a reference to Osama bin Laden.

Giuliani said: "This is the world we live in. It's not this happy, romantic-like world where we'll negotiate with this one, or we'll negotiate with that one and there will be no preconditions, and we'll invite (Iranian President Mahmoud) Ahmadinejad to the White House, we'll invite (Syrian President Bashar) Assad to the White House."

6. Assad not Osama
Sorry Arianna, he is a huge douche bag but that's not what he said.

7. Rudi, doing his Bush impersonation with a New York accent, he's got the lying while smiling down!
he's also really good at not knowing any of the facts, completely disassociating himself from reality and mixing apples and oranges. He's already proven he has no sense of shame (just look at what he's dome with 9/11.) So I'd say if we want a bad impersonation of a bad president for our next president - Rudi is our man (or woman, or trans, really a personal issue and not my business)
