Please, please get out and show that you do not like what is happening in America. We are quickly running out of options and I for one do not want to regret that I did not do all I could to save my country.

We've started singing at some of our rallies here, and that's one of the songs we really like doing. It's very appropriate. And since you asked -- I'll be marching in Chicago on Saturday.

4. a little note of warning to Chicago

Please be aware that the Gathering of Eagles is planning a
counter protest in Chicago:

It would be a good idea to be aware of how this group operates
and react accordingly--of course I recommend totally ignoring
them as trying to have a civil discourse with them does not
work. And keep in mind that Bush entertained the leader of the
GOE the day after he and a buddy beat up Carlos and stole his
son's photo:

Don't be discouraged, just be aware and prepared and have a

5. Thanks for the warning about those people...

I do appreciate the heads up, but we know about those lunatics; we've seen the videos of what they've done before. There have already been email warnings telling us to just ignore them - sing Give Peace a Chance and keep walking. I actually listened to their speeches at the big march in DC last month - they were so full of lies and distortions that it nearly made me sick. I have a feeling they'll be greatly outnumbered here - their website is still calling for volunteers for the Chicago march.

6. gathering of beagles show up in Chicago?

How did it go in Chicago today?

7. Oh, yeah, they were there...

Yep, they were on a corner across from the rally yelling like they always do - all FOURTEEN of them. One of us took a picture and I went over and counted them. Fourteen people. It was pretty funny. They couldn't start any trouble this time, the police presence on that corner was pretty heavy and they had them surrounded to make sure they stayed in their place. This time most of their signs said PEACE THROUGH VICTORY, although I did see one fat man with a sign that said something about CODEPINKOS, which of course we CodePink people thought was rather hilarious. (I really wish they'd explain what the hell they think victory IS in a war against an idea, but that's another matter.) They started chanting U-S-A and I yelled it's OUR USA, TOO and then WE started yelling it much louder than they did. They certainly didn't have enough people to make any impact.

I'm not sure of the number of people in the crowd. When I got home someone told me they saw a news report that said five to ten thousand, but I think it was probably a lot more than that. There were three arrests for disorderly conduct, but I have no idea what went on since I didn't witness the incidents, only heard that on the radio driving home. All in all, it was a great day for us in the midwest.

8. No Gathering of Eagles in Seattle

just three young, naive guys carrying signs that said great
president if not the greatest and go cry in canada and peace
through superior fire power and other crap like that. This
gaggle of pasty-faced youths who have not been to Iraq show up
in a lot of the marches here in Seattle.
 It was a great march of about 4,000 people-they say--and I
will have a video up in a few days. One interesting aspect of
this march is the way they got this "roar" going a
few times. I really don't know how they did it or how better
to explain it but it was great.It was powerful. I hope I was
able to capture that in my video. I will post it here and in
the video
 section.

One thing that was interesting is that during the rally it was
emphasized quite a few times by young and old that it is up to
the young people now to stop this war. I thought that was
interesting. And it was about half and half young and old in
the march.  And it IS up to the young people because we are
going to start dropping like flies, us old farts. We are
getting worn out and discouraged by the absence of young
people. What in the hell are you guys doing out there? Will it
take the draft to get everybody off their duff? Actually I
kind of understand what's taking up your lives, but only to a
point. You say the marches don't do any good? Well, visualize
no one ever showing up for any kind of protest. What message
does that give? Governments just hate it when the masses get
out in the streets. They fear the disruption. They fear the
"rabble." Or they bloody well should. And WILL!!!!
