They are basically old and greedy, and they KNOW the repugs are going to help them "protect their treasure"...so they don't think at all about the facts. They just regurgitate bor, vannity and limpballs as if they make any sort of sense at all.

But he also makes some good points, about the fundamental psychology of the far right. They're militarism, authoritarianism, xenophobia... He hits right on the money with the "daddy' complex, although T wouldn't have put it that way, but on the other hand my way wouldn't be particularly funny, I digress.. This reminds me of a discussion I was having with a friend. All far-right personality types are patriarchial, and believe in strict, rigid gender roles, they also put themselves up as the picture of manliness. Our conception of masculinity is complex, involving biological reality, history, social convention, folk wisdom, and literary archetypes, but we all basically understand how our society/the west defines this. What I find interesting of republican fetishes, sports, the military, business... what I find interesting, is that all of these preoccupations involve submission to a strict identity and a dissipation of the self into a unified mass. Funny, I have always thought of "independence', and "individuality' as cardinal, "masculine" virtues....

9. Good site. Good book.

He doesn't apply his authoritarian principles specifically to right wingers. However most of them fit his mold. He also talked about how "Left wing" authoritarians tend to dry up. Like the "Weathermen" from the late sixties and early seventies. Just upped and disappeared.

Now what I would find interesting would be to see some of our meat cleaver in hand, ready to castrate all men feminists take the test. Then we'll see which part of the authoritarian scale THEY land on.

I think we already know that answer...

Then maybe the rest of us can get on with making this a nice place to live. Some place David, Solomon, Jesus, the Prophet, and all the rest of the positive life affirming beings, past and present whom people hold dear, might be proud to call home.
