A provision in the National Defense Authorization Act (which passed unanimously in the Senate) allows the military to detain terrorism suspects, including American citizens, indefinitely with no real trial. Cenk Uygur breaks it down on The Young Turks.

1. I'll believe a veto if and when it actually happens. He's said similar about other bills then caved.

3. Before you get to excited about his veto, his threat to veto is because he is unhappy

with the limits to his power, not because he will have to much. He wants more power.

"The White House already had threatened a veto if the bill isn't changed, saying it could not accept legislation that "challenges or constrains the president's authorities to collect intelligence, incapacitate dangerous terrorists and protect the nation."

2. Let's hope Obama's threat is real. If he caves on this one...we are in big trouble.
Not that the country isn't in big trouble already.. but this law is more than dangerous.

Has anyone figured out why in the world Sen Carl Levin would propose a bill like this? Why did he come up with this and who is it supposed to benefit.. the Bankers?

4. I know this has been posted millions of times.. but it never gets old......
Especially in light of the Natl Def Author Act. If this bill passes .. we ARE LIVING in 1932 Germany... no more doubts or speculation.

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out --
Because I was not a Socialist.

Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out --
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out --
Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me -- and there was no one left to speak for me.

8. Did you think the war criminals in Congress
Edited on Fri Dec-09-11 08:12 PM by JJW
weren't going to come after you? You think hundreds of thousands of Iraqis and Afghans who were killed, weren't innocent?
