Keith Shannon, the roommate of injured Occupy Oakland protester Scott Olsen and a fellow Iraq War veteran, shares what happened Tuesday night when the Oakland Police Department fired upon the crowd with rubber bullets, bean bags and tear-gas canisters, one of which gave Olsen a skull fracture and trip to the emergency room. Shannon, himself a vocal protester, provides an update on Olsen’s condition — saying Olsen is “stable, but critical” — and says the incident has only bolstered his resolve to continue working for the movement.

2. Police warned they would use "chemical agents" if protesters didn't leave.
Gee, is "Homeland Security's" police force trying to show that they can be just as bad@ss as Saddam? That Saddam used chemical agents on his own people was one of Bush's justifications for invading Iraq.

Will this lead to the protesters adding the Patriot Act to their list of grievances?

4. And the resolve for the movement just became stronger because of
the police action. When it looks like it could have been the streets of Cairo, Egypt, most Americans are now unable to hide their eyes away from the country we have become. And for just how few constitutional rights are allowed us anymore.

The roommate is now wanting to be even more involved. The fact he's a young Iraq war vet who went to "protect Americans and the constitution", is just ECM more remarkable. Last week some tool said the movement needed a martyr for the cause on Morning Joe. I guess they sort of got one; thankfully, he did not die!
