The GOP is determined to bring America back to one of their favorite decades, rather than improving the current one.

And they seem quite fond of the 1950s.

So for those of you don't remember it first hand, here's a quick glimpse into that era. Let those good times roll!

1. They adore the regimentation, social and racial segregation

and sexual repression. They don't seem to adore the fact that it was the best financial deal the working stiff ever had and that there was an adequate social safety net for abandoned families.

What they want is truly horrible. Our job is to fight them to the death, if necessary, to make sure they never get it.

I didn't get the satire until I watched the second time, then I saw the pictures.

This is exactly where the GOP wants us to be. And who they want us to be. White, happy, and completely oblivious to reality.

Remember in Ike's years as President the marginal tax rate on the wealthy reached 91%. No way do they want that again. What they actually have in mind is a complete plutocracy.

that the same people who get all wistful and nostalgic for the Good Old Days of the 50's seem to have forgotten that what made the U.S. a postwar military and economic superpower was union labor and progressive taxation.
