Dave Zirin, Edge of Sports joins Thom Hartmann. Remember the old adage that "sports and politics don't mix?" Well - the ties go much further than most sports fans can imagine. Professional sports team owners are among the wealthiest people in the world -- and it turns out that much of the profit these owners make off us attending their games - is going toward promoting far right political agendas - and pushing this ideology onto unsuspecting fans. And they're doing it without any public scrutiny. So would sports fans be so willing to shell out hundreds of dollars to see their favorite teams on the field if they knew what political enterprises their money is really funding?

2. Former Cleveland Browns and Baltimore Ravens owner Art Modell said NFL owners
are a bunch of card-carrying Republicans who practice socialism. I think he was referring to all of the government support they receive in building new stadiums and other benefits.

3. My 87 yr. old father says yes. He was a coach and an avid sports fan now doesn't care.
