The cops on the line look as surprised by this as the protesters. Two cops closest to the camera seem to get a face full as well.

Let's not make the mistake of tagging all of the NYPD with the offensive actions of there Supervisors.

Most of these cops have pensions that are jeopardized by the actions of Wall Street. The more we antagonize the beat cops, the more influence the corrupt elements of our society will have over them.

Someone who had been arrested yesterday gave a very good account of what happened. She stressed several times the fact that the blue shirts appeared to be sympathetic, while the 'white shirts' were "brutal" (<-- in her words/opinion).

Not saying that there are no rogue blues, or that all 'white shirts' are bad, but in this situation, it appears to be the case generally speaking, based on what this woman and others have said.

If someone above ordered them to spray mace on people who were standing, yelling sure, but not presenting any physical threat, then the police officers involved so ordered need to talk to the press, and otherwise document this ASAP, as I'm pretty sure that would be illegal and they need to cover their rears.

But if you watch the video, it sure dosnt look like that's what happened here. It appears to me that the sprayer was involved in taking down a person who was physically struggling. Perhaps he got kicked in the shin or something during that struggle, but was not able to take out his frustration. But for whatever reason he came over and without provocation and Maced several nonviolent protestors and several beat cops.

He should be id'd and he should Be suspended pending investigation.
