5. sadly KO and BM likely only read and watch and don't know the main bubble maker is RW radio
like most all of the left comnetators and analysts..although KO did mention limbaugh....

9. To suggest that Bill Maher or KO is behind the curve is ridiculous
Their fame and respect comes from the fact that they are famously ahead of the curve.

That Judas goats like Rush Limbaugh, who lead these brain challenged cattle around by the nose ring and deliver them up to right wing politicians and paid millions to do so, is well known to both and anyone else with two brain cells to rub together.

Its the way things are done in the la, la land of pugthugs.

12. they ARE behind the curve
bill maher called his show politically incorrect, playing off 'political correctness', which was a meme constructed and enforced largely by RW talk radio to short circuit real social criticisms. there is no bigger PC cop and censor-by-threat than talk radio.

there is no way that KO or any of his close staff keep up with RW talk radio. for one thing, there is no searchable transcript database.

they may be ahead of the curve but that curve curves in a talk radio vacuum, and they generally react AFTER the alternate radio reality has been established.

20. few if any commentators, analysts, strategists have any clue what happens on RW radio except in a
very general sense and there is no written record for them to analyze the patterns and repetition.

instead they blame fox or the 'tea party' (dittoheads out of the limbaugh closet).

why do you think KO was held to completely different standards? why do you think maher's earlier show got cancelled? or dan rather got fired? that constant bleating to 50 mil a week, with no one talking back to them, is a huge part of it. fox is small potatoes when it comes to threatening or complaining or lying about people in media. or climate scientists. or progressive nominees or candidates. and the KO and BMs and most of the left's commentators and analysts HAVE been behind the curve, along with most of the progressive groups and their activists, who waste volunteer time and money because they ignore the right's best weapon and react after.

20 yrs of UNCHALLENGED and ignored RW radio is why we're in this disaster- why progressives have been useless politically and why a small minority has been destroying democracy and defeating nearly all progressive efforts.

RW radio has been allowed to determine what is and what isn't acceptable in america, doing the groundwork for selling war, deregulation, and tax inequality.

the memes the teabaggers and the GOP politicians scream are acceptable because they can be pounded into the earholes of 50 mil a week, as determined by the think tanks who feed the blowhards on their giant uncontested nationally coordinated soapbaxes.

no larger stimulus, no higher taxes on the rich, no single payer, supremes like thomas and alito, and the enabling of the MSM to give 50% of the seats at the table to a 10% minority were possible mainly because their is NO organized opposition to the right's best weapon, and because the left's analysts read and watch and don't listen. RW talk radio is still beating the crap out of TV and internet.

so many times, to say nothing of Beck dreck and other radio "commentators". The reason hate mongers are all over talk radio is because top RW money is all over radio and owns and controls it...The reason Corporate "news" is what it is, is because it is backed and controlled by the same RW money. Rachel has been unraveling that for some time.

The fact that more, each day, are waking up to that fact, thanks to KO, Bill Maher, Rechel and a few others is awe inspiring and may be signalling a change....though admittedly, that will be a heavy lift. RW money has become the controlling factor in so many kaleidoscopic avenues of the American experience, it now has to lean too heavily on propaganda to keep the house of cards from scattering. Propaganda that now disintegrates under the glare of the aforementioned.

To say that corporate radio and corporate television are the facilitators of that fact and have destroyed our way of life and have been in the making for the last 65 years, is a given. To say the smart money on the left is not aware of that, and to the moment has not been able to make its knowledge known, to blast its way through the propaganda, so to speak, and not understand why, is skating on simple surfaces too thin to measure and too hollow to have any substance.

It took 60 years to destroy this country, it will not be rebuilt overnight but these folks are on the cutting edge of that resurrection.

22. most of the left's reaction to team limbaugh is usually relative to some particular
bit of stupidity or racism or lie.

randi rhodes is even one of the few progressives talkers in that media who recognizes the part radio has played.

generally the left in general do not refer to the huge part and in some ways domination of the rest of the media by those 1000 coordinated stations. most of the lies and absurdities we shake our heads at are acceptable in mainstream only because they have already been prechewed on radio.

the fascist irrational corporatist right has made huge advances and obstruction in the last 20 years compared to the last 60 years as a whole. the bush reagan crime family would probably be in jail if not for the excuses and rationalization and history rewrites and intimidation and distraction only the radio could do.

there is no other media that can create a similar level of media buzz to message over anything the left can do. any kind of messaging success the left has, on purpose or by accident, is noticed by their think tanks and responded to and distracted from and it at the radio stations that it all starts.

every day the right puts a jerk on every corner and stump in teh country to scream libarals and their families and their ideas are shit and the left has NO real time response. they're getting a free speech free ride and it makes their lies acceptable.

as soon as the left figures it out and starts picketing the stations, shaming local sponsors and universities that endorse those stations and their racist global warming denying blowhards with their sports broadcasts, and giving talk radio the attention it deserves, the right will lose the advantage. as it is, the left is playing politics without a front line and has no clue as it screams at their continuously sacked quarterback.

23. On some levels we are making the same arguments but with different extrapolations.
Edited on Mon Sep-19-11 01:11 PM by ooglymoogly
So here is a tip...Toss the flux capacitor out and get a new one or at least tinker with the golden screw to the left of, or in front of the fart valve...Your time machine has landed you in the mid to late ots where your arguments make more sense and might even be considered prescient. Throw enough banana peels in the tank to get yourself to the present, where folks are finally waking up from the sleep they have been lulled into for decades; thanks to the internet and sites like this one and those on the front lines; who's shouts and wake-up calls are finally being heard through the sound proof walls of corporate RW propaganda. Propaganda that has held us in a vice grip while the kleptocracy has stolen the gold from our teeth.

24. i just heard another poll re voting concerns indicating republicans are concerned with voter fraud
and dems are concerned with voter turnout- another great eg of right wing talk radio work panning out for them.... those programs are a regular over the years, on national and local levels, tied in with acorn, immigration, attorneys generals, etc. with fox performing only a secondary role - shit that continues daily and will continue to make national discussions about any major issue (election reform).

and still there is NO organized challenge from the groups who continue to squander volunteer hours and donations because of it.

6. There are certain weaknesses in the bubble that only Fox News can get through.
I was waiting for them to put a TV next to him. No sound would penetrate the bubble until it was tuned to Fox News. Then it would come through loud and clear and Bob would light up with excitement.

8. I was thinking the same thing.
On the part where they were showing the Repub in the bubble, listening to easy music, they should have piped in Limbaugh, Faux Snooze or some other RW propaganda that has obviously shaped his mind.
