Ron Paul wants charity to take care of the uninsured sick...but where was the charity for his own 2008 campaign manager? Kent Snyder died of pneumonia without insurance leaving his wife over $400,000 in medical bills. True, heartfelt care from those who believe in Libertarian ideals.

UPDATE: A fundraiser, which has since ended, was put together for Ron Paul's campaign manager to help pay off his $400,000 medical debt...they only raised $34,870.53. So much for charity. (http://kentsnyder.chipin.com/kent-snyder)

1. Jesus, you'd think Mister Doctor Congressman Wonderful would have hosted a few of those....
....course, that would involve something called "giving a shit."

Which he doesn't.

3. Isn't Ron a multi-millionaire? Couldn't he foot the $400K bill for his trusted
friend? Couldn't Ron take it out of his campaign contributions?

5. Wouldn't that have cheated the family out of the opportunity to act responsibly?
I don't think Paul would have slept well knowing that he had cheated a family of the opportunity to truly show their grit.

2. I love how "charity" is supposed to help people get their medical bills paid.
How many spaghetti dinners and fish fry's can we all go to?

4. Charities are on the government dole.
I mean, churches are tax exempt. They get a break from the government.

Why not just eliminate the middle man and have universal health care?

7. Certainly is cheaper that way! The administrative costs of single payer are
the lowest of all "health insurance" programs... in any western nation...choose any of them.

We should be paying 5-8% of our income, more % for the wealthier, less percent for the working poor. That's how they do it in the UK, Canada, France, and all the rest.

People just pay more in taxes and don't have to pay thousands of dollars for medical costs when hospitalized or hundreds when going in for routine care and diagnostic tests.

And the billing expenses, the record-keeping, the accountability, all better and more consumer friendly in all those nations.

In the UK, for example, visitors from the USA get FREE medical care while visiting and needing care. Americans, yes, Americans, getting free care, because that care amounts to less than a half of a percent of all costs of medical care in the UK, so the UK just doesn't bother with tracking down American insurance companies, who would REFUSE to cover the bill, because the doctors are not certified in the USA, etc.

10. I Did Not Like This Video
Okay listen, i'm not a Ron Paul fan
But I do like having a vocal anti-war candidate in the repuke party
I think the voice is important

Now as for Ron's other things I don't agree with
I do agree with him on foreign policy though

And... I do ensure I understand what I am criticizing
And because of that understanding this video is not that good

Ron Paul's entire plan is to allow a pure free market system where you also don't pay so much income tax
So people will have more money in their pockets, to pay for medical fees

Secondly he says this current medical care is mostly reactive and not preventive
This is the current system

This guy died under the current system

I'm not defending either side of the fence, but I do understand what I criticize
Just thought I should inject this into this topic

thx

11. Too many holes in that logic
Doing the math, the % I pay in Fed tax, if saved over 55 years would not pay for a cataract surgery waiting for me let alone anything bigger along the way, like maybe a pregnancy or serious infection, food poisoning (inevitable with no regulation and oversight). And free trade got us into this mess. No one balked about paying taxes like this until the greed took over like a sickness. Libertarians want a free-for-all Old West which didn't work then, won't work now.
