1. Our collective freak-out response is a human disgrace.
The events of 9/11/2001 were horrific. I still remember the day like it was yesterday. I still remember the numb feeling of disbelief that the towers were gone by the time I had heard what was happening and then the nearly 24 hours straight I spent glued to the phone and the TV trying to talk to friends and relatives and make sense of the insane.

But what has happened since then, and continues to happen today is even worse. Yes, "they" attacked us....the 19 men who died in the planes that day and their goon leaders who have largely been killed now as well. However, we lost our freedom (Patriot Act, Homeland Defense, TSA, etc.), our moral compass (the death of the 'free' press, loss of any semblance of impartiality in journalism, rise of media demagogues and nut cases) and we lost our chance to rationally address the problems and situations that led to the attacks in the first place.

I have news for my fellow Americans - "they hate our freedoms" is right up there in world history with "work will make you free" as far as the wall of infamy. The video of civilians being beaten and slaughtered in the name of "freedom" should sicken any person of conscience, but we have been beaten into submission as surely as those victims of military abuse and corporate resource greed.

In the run up to the war (2002-3), we protested by the MILLIONS to stop the drum beat of war and were ignored.

In the following presidential election (2004), we watched a true war veteran get smeared and tarred and feathered by the supporters of a draft dodging National Guard fuck up and allowed the election in Ohio to be stolen via "irregularities" that actually only bore out the truth of the axiom "its matters not who votes, it matters who COUNTS the votes".

Finally, in the mid-term elections of 2006, we took back the Congress and the Senate and in 2008 we were PROMISED a "responsible end" to the wars and a closing of the terror camps and torture chambers of the CIA/Military-Industrial complex.

Did we get a single trial for torture?
Did we close Gitmo or just move it off the front burner?
Did we LEAVE Iraq or just stop using it as convenient political cudgel?
Did we LEAVE Afghanistan or did we ESCALATE the troop levels in a backwater mess of a country?
Did we STOP the spread of war or involve ourselves and our military more deeply in Libya?

Until the day comes that we can answer in the affirmative to ALL of those questions, then we are collectively guilty and in the words of Emile Zola "J'accuse!"

3. I belive the problem lies in the owners of this country you know the .01% who hold 90% of the $
Some have suggested Obama went in with good intentions only to be told do this or you will suffer this.

look at the way the protectors of this President did nothing to protect him as they knew they were being shot at bullets were hitting the windshield yet did they take any defensive action no they waited for the head shot!

4. Yes, they hate us for our freedom
This 23 second video explains a lot about why we were attacked on 9-11: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x4PgpbQfxgo

That was the same administration (Clinton) that bombed Iraq (from Saudi Arabia) about every three days.

On 9-11 I was pissed at our government's foreign policy and aggressive war making. I was, and still am, sure that is what provoked the attack.

Anyone who votes for any candidate that supports war, supports these outrages. Of course we don't have many candidates to choose from. But at least we can draw a line at war.
