If there’s one thing Republicans love to attack, its government regulations. They tell us that regulations cost us jobs, they cost us too much money, and that they prohibit businesses from operating properly in the so-called “free market.” What they’re really upset about is that corporations have to take a little extra time to insure that their workers aren’t put in danger every day while doing their jobs, which costs these multinational conglomerates a few extra dollars. Mike Papantonio talks about the assault on regulations – regulations that are saving peoples’ lives – with Robert Weissman, the president of Public Citizen.

1. What I can not understand is the disconnect...

Certainly if a anti-reg RETHUG politico has a child die from E. coli-contaminated hamburgers, they are going to scream bloody murder at how 'gubment' let him down and who all he's gonna sue. So, how, then can they blithely go through and oblivious to the outcomes that may well affect their very own, move to dismantle safety regulations and agencies? Does anyone understand this? Is it just denial?
