as labor for a few years before they can hide behind the corporate tit (not teat). These are the bastards determined to complete our transformation into impoverished, uneducated, serfs.

There should be publicly funded elections only.

I was going to comment on something entirely different, until I saw your post.

But yeah, publicly funded elections are the way to go. They've worked well for over a decade here in the state I live in- on state level campaigns. I wish more people would work hard to bring them about in their own states. That would be step #1. Once more states see the benefit, step #2 would be to then bring about publicly funded campaigns on the federal level.

My thanks to the OP for the video. Anyone notice how he seems to have surrounded himself w/children? I can't help but wonder if he was hoping that would shield him from the criticism he has rightly earned and deserves.

62. You're damned right.
Elections should be publicly financed.

Bring back taxes for the wealthy and America will do fine. Of course REINSTATE THE FAIRNESS DOCTRINE NOW! Stop the lies and propaganda.

TeeVee "NEWS CONTENT" should never be determined by the "FREE MARKET." It should be determined by the damned TRUTH. He sold the "truth" to the highest bidder in perpetuity.

When Reagan did away with the FAIRNESS DOCTRINE he destroyed a nation. Americans were considered among the worlds best informed citizens before that. Now, collectively, we are idiots. We are not a Democracy or a republic.

We are a CORPTOCRACY and an IDIOCRACY. Not one person, pre-Reagan, has any idea of what was once a great nation, America. That means that IF we do not take America back very soon, the knowledge of what once was, is gone

forever. Just like Atlantis. Our children and grandchildren will have no reference point. THAT is the goal. "Trickle Down Economics? Pure GOP, Reagan Bullshit. Now GOP = DNC.

If we do not REVOLT soon, it will be too late. That is the plan.

64. In a 'free market' of ideas, most of us end up less informed.
Edited on Sun Sep-11-11 01:02 PM by reformist2
That's because we tend to choose the articles and websites we already agree with, that reinforce our preconceived notions of the world. And that's true for both right-wingers and left-wingers alike. And as for truly objective journalism, that tends to go out the window altogether, because what publisher in his right mind is going to promote something so boring as objectivity and even-handedness?! As a result, our nation is reverting to the way it was in the late 1800s, where the public was swayed by yellow journalism and corrupt editors controlled the political debate. It's ironic, but having a free market of ideas works against a well-informed public and democracy.

From the mall sledding hill to Traxler there's a park in every neighborhood. Stupid commie parks! :D

It's a beautiful town with lovely preserved 19th century architecture. I hated growing up in the "small town" but I now love it's charm now that I'm in my middle age years. Ha.

Looks to me like she was too busy "comforting" him by rubbing his back. He probably promised her that after just a few years "establishing" himself in Congress he could get a big, fat lobbyist position in D.C. and they could just ditch Janesville for the big time.

Both of them make me sick...

9. Paul Ryan contributors list and I am puzzled
why or how could they ....How could a union, the Carpenters and Jointers Union contribute to a Congressman that is against everything they represent.???

http://www.opensecrets.org/politicians/contrib.php?cycle=Career&cid=N00004357&type=I

This union contributed over $52,000 dollors..Now I dont believe this camne from the local or the state even, but had to come in part anyway from the International union as a whole..

The Carpenters Unions President several years ago was about to be charged with insider trading and then bellied up to Bush abd it somehow got buried in the dollars.

Any Wisconsin union member know why a union would give to Ryan?

Edited on Sun Sep-11-11 02:22 PM by myrna minx
a construction company that dates waaayyyy back. The union is hedging their bets with that one. What folks don't know about Ryan is that his public face in Janesville is very moderate. His shirts are green to imply green energy - but we're "forced" to drill for oil, etc. His constituents are *now* learning of his radical ideas because he's become such a high profile public figure. His well cultivated image back home is nothing like his DC voting record. Nothing. If you saw his campaign ads, you'd think he's a Reagan Dem.

He's not like Bachmann where the crazy is on display and advertised, in his district, he needs to disguise his agenda. For the last 10 years, everyone thought he was such a "nice boy" from that good local construction family. Now they're beginning to see him for who he truly is: a greedy Randian devotee who's out to destroy our social safety nets.

stopped walking - the law stated that they had to keep moving - the police man reminded them so they would not get arrested. The protesters then started walking in a circle and the police did nothing. You are forgetting these are the same police who sided with the demonstrators against Walker.

This man is so totally clueless and insensitive. I'm still astounded at the meeting where he had the 72 year old guy dragged out and put face-down by his security people, then joked that he hoped the guy had taken his blood pressure medication. Bully tactics, charging money for town hall meetings, and unbelievable smugness--how was this guy ever elected in the first place? He seems to have no idea that he is supposed to be representing and listening to his constituents.

He's not a very good politician or he's never been confronted before like this. Most politicians know how to handle constituents... Not just say "go away; do you want some candy". If he believes in his BS, which let's face it he knows its BS, he would have canned, prepared remarks. He's not a good politicians when he doesn't know how to spin it. 31. You think? Perhaps their heads are so inflate with self importance
and DC ideas and opinions, that it is shocking to them that people aren't stupid and they are figuring out his corporate connections that he seems to represent better than the people who he's supposed to represent. I loved the kid asking about the "compete with China" meme. He asks if he's supposed to accept a working wage of $1.00/ hr to compete?

And what's up with the wife? Why is she telling the constituents to step off with her fake step-ford smile. I wonder how much time they actually live in their district? Not sure if the family resides mainly in DC for the year or if she lives year round in WI w/ hubby commuting. She seems a bit out of tune with realities on the ground.

"want some candy".. Is that Ryan's "eat some cake" moment or what?

Before the parade started I volunteered to pass out about 200 anti Ryan flyers. They were all gone within half and hour and the crowd were light at that point. I was met with about two dozens mumblers who said they were Ryan supporters. One guy chased me down to get a handout and congratulated me for wearing my Veterans for Peace button.

I grew up in Janesville so seeing this activism in Janesville, a town that prospered because of the UAW, is so inspiring. I went to HS with Ryan so this is rather poignant to me. We received a world class education at Craig HS, a public school, so I'd love for him to look Mr Douglas, Mr Holt, Ms Crevecore etc in the eyes and tell them that they're a blight on the economy and society. We had life changing, inspiring teachers - teachers that made you want to be someone better, like say, a Congressperson. Thanks for making Mr $500.00 bottle of wine's day rather uncomfortable. :D

Ever Tuesday since these wars started there has been a interfaith peace group demonstrating - rain, sleet, snow and blazing head they meet. I been going down of late!

that it's an outrage that Ryan is undermining his own constituents, while manipulating them into thinking he's a moderate, when he's actually a radical.

41. That was a beautiful thing!
How many seniors will be able to afford an additional $6,000 dollars for health care per year if Ryan gets his way?

43. It's amazing,
the level of dismissive contempt this plastic puppet shows toward people who bring a little democracy to his photo-ops. But the chutzpah to march in a Labor Day and piss on labor like some little corporate princelet was simply jaw-dropping.

45. If he had a decent answer, he could have answered the questions
Excellent example of how he doesn't have sound justification for his proposals. A--hole.

48. I'm getting the feeling that he's
the republican party's guinea pig. "Lets put Ryan out there with a kill Medicare bill and see how it flies." He kind of looks like the classic chump.

66. "Want some candy?" is the best he could offer up or parroting his
wife's "focus on the family" silliness. If you want to reap the benefits of mingling with the great unwashed you also have to contend with the great unwashed.

52. I have to question the intelligence of Ryan (and his wife) to think that
marching in a LABOR Day parade would be a good idea. Were the children supposed to be a shield against having to listen to the pesty rabble, i.e., actual LABORERS?

56. Ryan,his wife and supporters wanted to look like family values people
It was nothing more than a photo op but instead they put these children in danger because you can never be sure what angry people will do.
