Join us to help make the end of polio a reality.http://www.theendofpolio.com/home/2011/09/sign-the-petition-and-vaccinate-a-child/

Our generations stand on the brink of eradicating the second human disease in history.

Polio – a disease which has disabled millions and pulled people further into poverty – has been reduced by 99% over the past 30 years.

Global efforts have delivered incredible progress: immunising more than 2 billion children and saving more than 5 million children from life-long paralysis or death.

But right now the critical work of the Global Polio Eradication Initiative is constrained by a US$590 million funding gap.

Join our call for world leaders to commit to polio eradication, and for each petition signature a child will be vaccinated through the Global Polio Eradication Initiative. http://www.theendofpolio.com/home/2011/09/sign-the-petition-and-vaccinate-a-child/

1. Unfortunately, I have in laws who have bought into the vacc hype...never vaccinated their kids
against polio or anything else.

They were convinced by a chiropractor that vaccinations are dangerous and by taking supplements, you can avoid getting all the diseases that you can be vaccinated against.

3. Dangerous, ignorant freaks who are relying on EVERYONE ELSE
having been vaccinated so their kids don't even get exposed. They are engaging in magical thinking.

Pathetic. Some people shouldn't be allowed to have children.

5. Can you imagine
all the pharma thieves thoughts when the guy who invented the polio vaccine gave it away???

I'll have to look up the guys name. But he has to be at the top of the all time list of "good humans".

6. You actually have to LOOK UP Dr. Jonas Salk? REALLY?
Edited on Sun Sep-11-11 06:45 AM by Ian David
That's not even a "Jeopardy" question.

That's more of a Nickelodeon "Family Double-Dare" question.

8. I suppose that post shows your superior intellect?
Is it your goal to make fun of people in order to feel better about yourself?

9. I'm not so sure it was as shocking when Salk did that as
there still was a concept of "common good" and all parents, rich and poor (even pharma executives), feared that their children would get polio.

I'm not so sure that pharma was quite as bad then as it is now.

10. My take on it was that Salk
did what he did because he didn't want to see money become a barrier to the vaccine.

11. That is correct
he said he wanted as much vaccine made as quickly as possible and that's why he didn't patent it. He was more concerned with preventing the disease than making money.
