"you won a war" - War have clear winners, and the cost to the "winning" society is irrelevant
"to the victor" - There can be only one winner. Alliances are made to be betrayed.
"go the spoils" - Wealth is not to be conserved or sustained. It is to be consumed or spoiled.
"all those rebels" - Authority is good. Rebels are bad.
"richer than the people of this country" - A high standard of living isn't important, being superior to another is important
"they're going to take all the oil" - Anyone, given a resource, will of course exploit it as fast as possible.
