This film and investigation connects the dots and reveals why the Koch brothers are trying to end public education and how their wealth winds up in the hands of Jim Crow. Watch the video, then call David Koch and tell him to stop funding school resegregation now. His number is 212-319-1100.

That republicans depend on conning a goodly portion of people, who will suffer financially, into voting for them to get elected. When people are ignorant, or just stupid if you like, it makes them more susceptible to being duped, and conned. It's why I call them RepubliCONS, or CONservatives--Cenk even adopted this method, though I used a hyphen initially, way before he ever started doing it. With the quality of education decreasing, and worse corrupting of education as they've done in Texass, and a few other locations, it makes both their polices seem right, through the duping (many economics professors for instance, are complete right-wing tools, turning out mindless, brainwashed zombies for right-wing polices), and some are just unable to properly think, compare, and dismiss the idiot arguments of people like Glen Beck.

Nazis being Socialist is one of Beck's big BS lines, even though the Socialists in Germany had their own party, called not surprisingly The Socialist Party, and that Hitler came after Communists and Socialists FIRST, eliminating the threat, before he ever focused seriously on the Jews, without that actual historical knowledge, Beck sells, and the ignorant populace buys.

By any means possible--that is the republican mantra. They will confuse, under-educate, corrupt voting machines, or misdirect you, to keep you from voting. Hell they'll even purge you from the list. Education should just be looked at as one of the fronts republicans are fighting on. If you look at it like war, you'll be seeing the proper view of Republican strategy, developed in these right-wing think tanks, financed by Billionaires, who incredulously, seem to think they don't have enough money, and should squeeze ever last bit of it from the rest of us. There is of course also the Media, Republicans, Democrats, promotion of general confusion, giving people sinecures to write books, handing the books out for free so they'll get on best-seller lists, and be promoted by the corrupted media, paying talking heads millions' a year to promote their ideas on ALL of the networks.

So Education, reducing it, is just one of the fronts. Besides, why do they want your annoying little smart children competing for the few jobs they want their own kids to get?

3. They don't like their money going to things...
that they don't need and they don't want to pay for. Public education (their kids I'm sure go/went to private school), social security, medicare, medicaid, any form of social welfare.

They are selfish fuckheads.

Don't they understand that they cannot take it with them? Apparently they are like the Pharaohs of old thinking they can take it with them.

4. I always figured it was because wealthy parents don't use them.
They don't like their tax money going to educate people they feel unworthy while they shell out for private schooling for their own children.

By the same token, conservatives are consistantly grousing about funding for public parks, libraries, and free clinics, all locations where you'll never find a millionaire.

8. Gates, Koch, Broad, Murdoch....billionaire boys are in Charlotte, too
Same thing is happening in Charlotte, NC.....

Peter C. Gorman, the Eli Broad trained superintendent of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg, N.C just left to go work for Rupert Murdoch and Joel Klein after dismantling the school district.

The Gates Foundation and the Chamber of Commerce provided funds to create an ad campaign to 'calm the fear of parents' over the extreme changes taking place in the schools.

16. It was their daddy that started this.
He helped found The John Birch Society back in the 50s....then the complaint was that there were communists in the schools teaching our kids to be communist....and that MLK was a communist and that is why he wanted to integrate the schools.
They became silent racist when public opinion turned against segragation....but they never changed their heart...just the words they used.

21. When I was a young man back in the 1960s
I expressed admiration for MLK to the neighbor lady. She informed me in no uncertain terms that MLK was in fact a communist. At the time I was too young to actually understand what a communist was. She had some weird ideas now that I think back.

12. Dumb people are so much easier to abuse and manipulate.
Watch Fox News if you want to see what dumbing down looks like. Also, read 1984. It shows how the intelligentsia are the ones who were closely monitored for fear they'd figure out what a farce they were living in. Whereas, the uneducated were content aslong as they had their basic needs met- roof over their head, food on the table, and bar on every corner. Plus, dumb people don't expect much. They don't have the tools or resources to defend themselves.

14. There's a simple solution....
...to this 're-segregation' crap. Every black athlete agree 'not' to attend any state university whose Board of Education/Regents/etc., allows these kind of 'charter schools' that don't have, at a minimum, a percentage of non-white students in proportion to the population of that particular county or municipality. You let the UNCs, the NC States and the rest, try and compete in basketball and/or football without 'em and see what happens. One thing's for sure, those local school boards - including the 'all white' ones - that have to deal with the parents of a, here-to-fore, noted top athletic program school, will fold like a coward poker player or be out of a job. The only thing that most of these folks appreciate is to have the premier athletes, almost all of which are black, playing for somebody else.

And as for 'dealing' with the Koch brothers, callin' 'em won't do a damn thing...boycotting their companies' products will. Starting with Georgia Pacifics' paper products like Brawny, and Vanity Fair, and Dixie, and Sparkle, and Quilted Northern, and host of others...then maybe they'll get the message. Probably won't change their behavior but it'll at least cost 'em money. I refuse to have any of their products in my house - assuming I know it's their's since they try to 'low-key' their involvement in most retail products. Wonder why that is?

18. I hate forced busing

There are clear benefits, but it sucks when a kid is forced to spend 2-3 hours a day sitting on school busses to go to a school that may not cater to their academic needs. Rather, I like what our school district did (Omaha). Essentially, they took the schools with the highest minority populations and turned them into magnet schools (at the high school level, there is a 4 magnet schools for each of the following: Information Technology, Law, Innovation, & Math, Science & Engineering). 1 benefit is that there is now a school that caters specifically to an area you may want to study. It also puts the onus on the parents in the suburbs to send their kids there for the education. Additionally, lower socio-economic parents tend to not be as active, so their kids will default into one of these great schools.

Having said this, it is clear in the video they do not want to do anything to improve the inner-city schools. That by itself is unacceptable.

24. Choices
Since I live in a poor neighborhood, I would like to have the choice of going to the best school around. Wouldn't it be great that instead of giving $15,000 to the closest school and forcing me to go there, I could instead use it to find the best school?

23. All things liberals
consider sacrosanct in social policy are anomalies from short periods of our history. The Kochs and their reactionary kindred spirits merely wish to reassert the traditional status quo, which is government of by and for the prerogatives of wealth and property. Part of that agenda requires the segregation of races and classes of Americans so they will fight amongst themselves or against some manufactured foreign enemy rather than against the oligarchs. Americans have always been successfully manipulated that way.

25. What If
Maybe they just believe that more choices and freedom will lead to greater progress for the country. What if we stop giving power to the government to control us we give ourselves more power by giving us unlimited choices?

27. What sort of choices?
How do you define freedom? How does one stop giving power to the government, and if one does, where does that power go? `Does it return to the people, who should own the government or to corporations they don't own? If you are suggesting that freedom of choice be based solely upon self interest for the maximization of pleasure then corporations will have the power. Progress is made by people willing to sweat and bleed for progress they will never see, not by hedonists.
