6. imagine someone that's been in a coma since 1987
waking up and seeing the Rev. Al Sharpton, hosting his own TV show, compare the first black president favorably to Ronald Reagan... :wow:

20. I have friends that were born in 1987 who either think
Ronald Reagan is the best President we have ever had OR that Ron Paul is the only infallible person that has ever existed. So, I guess one could assume that those people have been asleep since 1987 and will never wake up in time to listen to anything other than the word "no."

7. Reagan quote
The Reagan quote is a statement is principle

It’s not circumstantial

Either you have it or you don’t

Obviously, the republicans don’t

8. Sharpton consistently kicks republican ass on every show republicans are left stuttering & angry....
Edited on Wed Jul-20-11 12:36 AM by LaPera
He's informed, fearless and uses a machine-gun verbal barrage of facts & the republicans own hypocrisy that just blankets the lost dumbfounded republicans in their own lies and duplicity....looking completely stupid!

Who would of thought.....that Sharpton would be this take no shit, throw it back at them republican killer?

I love it!

14. And it's great that he doesn't let them talk over him
which most other interviewers and talk show hosts usually let them get away with. And he doesn't let go of an issue or let them get away with weasel words.
Go Rev. Al!!

9. Since when is Ronald Reagan a president to be emulated or admired
for any reason? He was a horrible president and one of the reasons is that he ran up horrendous debt. Our debt skyrocketed under Reagan.

12. He's not to be admired. I don't even think that most present day Republicans admire him.
Of course Republicans don't admire him for the opposite reason liberals and progressives don't admire him. They don't think he was reactionary enough, we think he was too conservative.

Years ago the Republicans put Reagan on a pedestal and no Republican now dares knock him off. Rarely do you hear a Republican praise Reagan these days.

Republicans know Reagan was too progressive for their present beliefs. Among many other things they know he raised taxes, and they know he was mostly a puppet president.

You can almost see them squirm when they have to disavow his policies without disavowing the person.

10. Today's republicans
think Ronald Reagan's policies were leftist revolutionary - at least the teabagger branch of it does.

11. Has this country been on Ronald Reagan happy pills for the last 30 years or something?
The way Republicans emulate Reagan as some icon of conservatism is laughable if not for the fact that many of today's problems can be traced to the dogma that his administration unleashed to the country.

The goofball arguing with Sharpton conveniently seems to forget that the national debt nearly tripled under Reagan; the size of government grew incrementally; and Reagan let the MIC genie out of the bottle that we are literally paying for today to the tune of hundreds of billions of dollars a year just so that a handful of goofs in the Pentagon and their enablers in Congress and the White House can play war monger.

13. We HAD a Ronald Reagan type president just recently
Edited on Wed Jul-20-11 10:29 AM by WhoIsNumberNone
His name was George W Bush. And he's the biggest reason why we need to raise the debt ceiling today. The only reason it's a "crisis" is our current president has a D after his name.

Ronnie Raygun: Most overreated president in American History.

15. Yowza.
Ronald Reagan would not be welcome in today's Republican party. And I must admit, Al Sharpton is a much better interview than I had expected.

18. I would respectfully submit that Sharpton is correct that
Barrack Obama is in many respects closer to Ronald Reagen than the Teabaggers or most of today's Republicans.

That is sobering when it is taken as an indication of how far to the right the country has slipped in 30 years--in large part because of Ronald Reagen.

Hold each of them in utter reverence, but don't follow the example of what either actually did or said.
