1. JE did an excellent job comparing the differences between Clinton and himself.
I'm gald he brought up the Kyl/Lieberman Amendment that Clinton voted for. I wonder how many voters who are not political junkies are aware of her vote. The corporate media is attempting to make this a name recognition contest and leaders based on dollars. The dollar figures tells who has gained the trust of corporations/lobbyists. I believe that give that money based on who they think will most likely deliver for their interests. Edwards is smart in comparing issues.

Thanks for posting jsamuel, I was busy playing mom tonight and missed KO. rec'd.

2. John did an excellent job on Olbermann tonight

He was great and I agree with John that polls are superficial. I have felt since the beginning that the media has pushed Clinton and in some ways Obama as the Democrats choice for President. I'm tired of hearing that she is our clear choice.

Says who? I have not been polled or talked to, so where is this info coming from?

11. LOVE
that he said we need to be more than just a little better than the repubs! and that come oct 08 he wants the debate to be about him wanting to end the war and thompson wanting to continue the war - whereas if it's clinton it'll be about fine line differences about what's going on, and that's just NOT good enough for Democrats imo!

yes, edwards was AWESOME on there, totally on the ball, has the clear wherewithal to debate effectively now, I'm certain.

10. I liked several things covered tonight on KO
Edited on Thu Oct-04-07 01:43 AM by benny05
Corporate welfare and the lack of accountability, the votes about the war, Edwards ability to address the polls at present, etc.

My understanding is that why it is a dead heat in Iowa is that Clinton and Obama went into panic mode and spent a few million on ads. Obama missed another important vote today because he was campaigning. Not unusual, but one shouldn't just say, "I was against the war all along" then not vote to end it. But there is a good reason why there is an emphasis on Iowa: the winner often gets more donations online of $2-4M per day, not to mention NH tends to rubber stamp Iowa's vote.

Edwards has spent little on ads in Iowa.

And I thought it was nice of KO to acknowledge Elizabeth. I think KO and EE are kindred spirits.

12. Thanks jsamuel!
I was hoping that KO would have Edwards on - I've been feeling like Olbermann has somewhat bought into the Hillary/Obama show and it was great to see the subject matter that was discussed. It so highlighted the differences between the two and I thought it was a nice touch on how Edwards framed it - If you want to stay in Iraq and continue combat missions, vote for Hillary - if you want to get out of Iraq, vote for me. I loved it!

33. Gee, I wasn't aware there were only 2 choices
for democratic nominee to run against the republicons for the presidency. Edwards is not the only one against the war and Dennis Kucinich is the only one that I believe hasn't been snookered or bought into any of the republicon crap that has been slung since bush has illegally occupied the white house and terrorized this nation. With leaders like bush who needs enemies like Osama. Bush is doing Osama's work for him so he had no need to further launch attacks here.

17. The 'chain of command' is only as strong as its weakest link, and this chain is BROKEN
No oversight, no responsibility taken, no real 'mission' statement. We're just "there" in Iraq and told by the administration we "can't leave".

24. Better there to be some form of oversight than what we have now
At least if they are accountable to the local military commanders then those commanders will keep them on a solid leash as it would also be their asses on the line as well as the mercs.

22. This was one of John's finest moments. I hope everyone can see this video.
I know I give John a hard time here from time to time, but last night he hit a grand slam in this television interview.

If, and that's a big if, John can stay focused against the Republicans and quit the bickering with Hillary's camp which drags him down, his best side shows.

And, here's my other if: If John Edwards does win Iowa, then he will shoot to the top in New Hampshire, too and it might be him, not Obama, who suddenly is giving Hillary a run for her money.

Kudos to John!

32. He does all the right talk but what makes you all so sure he will walk the walk, too?
I've learned this about politicians, that all the nice talk is pre-election and the rude awakening comes post-election. Not always but usually. And then there is this word about judging a man by his actions not his words. ( recent example : I still remember Pelosi's "for the children" remark before taking the gavel, now what?! )

So I am asking you what makes you so sure about Edwards? I do NOT mean to imply by asking this that he is doing the right talk only to get elected. I myself would like to feel more confident about him, it's just that I won't fall for nice talk alone anymore...

PS : The same is true for the other candidates btw

What makes you think any other democrat is going to do the things Edwards says he'll do if they're not even talking about those things?

35. Well at least he doesn't have a
campaign manager with ties to Blackwater. That's a start. Plus he doesn't take PAC contributions and he spent many years fighting big corporations as a lawyer.
