New Video of Vancouver Kissing Couple Emerges

UPDATED: Anyone still doubting the legitimacy of the photo of the now famous Vancouver riot kissing couple needs to take a look at a new video posted online Thursday.

The footage, uploaded to YouTube, leaves little question that Scott Jones was in fact comforting his girlfriend, Alex Jones, after she was knocked to the ground by an officer's riot shield, as the couple had claimed. (The video also shows just how chaotic the riots were.)

The photo of the couple, taken by a Getty photographer documenting the riot that began after the hometown Canucks lost game seven of the Stanley Cup, quickly became an Internet sensation and fueled speculation that the embrace was staged – something the couple and their families have disputed.

ORIGINAL POST Friday, June 17: A Canadian newspaper has named the kissing couple caught on camera by a photographer documenting Wednesday’s Vancouver riots, and detailed how the iconic embrace unfolded.

1. They kicked her ass and he was comforting her.
Figures, funny how the bystanders and the innocent are so often the ones who get stomped on first.

3. Yeah, it's definitely not cute anymore.
They were already on the ground, there was no reason to whack her with the riot shield.

clubs, I'm sure.... Yeah, at 15 seconds, it looks like Stormtrooper #2 gives em a wack with the shield, after they've already knocked them down. You can imagine the steroids/agression running threw these guys when they went after people. Surely, a sick thrill for them - they eat that crap up, you can just tell by watching!

4. I watched a series of videos on CBC online about the Sports Riots in Vancouver.
There's an interview with the couple and great video about how dear Vancouverites handled the aftermath of the invasion by very intense hooliganism.

5. Kind of amusing that the first article changes her name to "Alex Jones"
And then calls her by her real name Alex Thomas down further in the article.

I wonder if that was a freudian slip that either telegraphed that they were not just boyfriend and girlfriend and had just gotten married, or some sort of reference tot he infamous InfoWars/Prison Planet Alex Jones...

The incident of course was not humorous, and this kind of violence shouldn't be taken lightly!

9. That is a Good Catch
Changing the first instances but missing later ones is sometimes known as editorial fatigue.

6. Those first few seconds show what becomes of a man when you put him in violent gear with a club...
he turns into a monster.
