Van Jones Challenges Glenn Beck To Debate: ‘Call Me!’

In 2009, Fox News rodeo clown Glenn Beck launched a vicious character assassination campaign against former White House green jobs adviser Van Jones, which eventually became such a distraction that Jones resigned from the administration. Today in a speech at Netroots Nation, Jones — who has previously told Beck “I love you” — challenged the Fox host to a debate:

"I issue a personal challenge to my beloved brother Glenn Beck. I will debate you anytime, anywhere, at any point. I’ll give you an hour, you give me five minutes. And I will stand up for our values. But you would have to stop talking about us and start talking to us.

You got one week left before your show goes off. My phone is ringing. Call me! Call me, Glenn Beck! And let’s have this fight. Let’s have this discussion. Let’s have this argument. Let’s have this battle of ideas. Battle of ideas. And let’s fight for liberty and justice for all."

2. Brother skinhead
will find a way out. Or more likely - just not acknowledge the challenge at all.

3. Somebody needs to send this clip to Rachel Maddow
so she or Shultz can play it on monday. I think Jones has earned the right to debate Beck on his own show, given that Beck was the one who took him down and forced him to resign over a stupid petition he read without reading the fine print.

I have to say, though, ...frankly he shouldn't have resigned over that. Both Jones AND Obama should have told the right wing flying monkey squad to go fuck themselves. Van Jones stays. A good man doesn't resign over something as silly as that.

The conversation should have gone like this:

Jackals: "Mr. Jones, do you think 9-11 was an inside job?"

Jones: "No, don't be ridiculous."

Jackals: "then why did you sign a petition saying it was?"

Jones: "Because I didn't read the fine print when I signed the petition. How many of you ankle-biters read the entire "I AGREE" statement the last time you logged on to your favorite 'spank porn' site?"

6. The forced "resignation" by Vann Jones was, to me,
an "eye-opener." It made me realize that President Obama was and is a puppet on a string, manipulated by "TPTB", just like every GOP politician and most democrats.

If Vann Jones had been allowed to implement his vision of Americans, earning a living wage, building a green future for the world. We would be in a much better place. Low unemployment and a major exporter of a product that might save our planet.

We have kept going downhill since then.

We MUST create and endorse a viable Progressive (non-corporate) political party. Again, by design, we have waited until the Presidential election is upon us. Of course, now anyone who dares to promote Progressivism and run against President Obama will just be a "spoiler", a Nader. Like I said, this is BY DESIGN. Fuck ALL of you people stupid enough to buy into this.

We must run a real Progressive and we cannot keep putting it off for fear of being spoilers. Our democratic party has abandoned us. It is now the 2nd corporate party in a nation that only has two "viable" political parties. Time to change the paradigm.
