So we can be recorded by all of the cameras all over Chicago but if we were to take out a camera and record the police, 4 to 15 years in jail.

2. Unfortunately, as a general rule, audio recordings made without...
...the knowledge (and/or permission) of ALL parties involved are illegal. This is why security video does not include sound, despite how useful that might be.

Even if one of the parties informs the other that an audio recording may be being made, the second party as a rule, may not also record the conversation without obtaining the permission of (or at least informing) the first.

BTW you might wish to read the OP, or at least turn your mind back a few years to re-embrace the concept of "recording" which doesn't involve the capture of visual imagery, which IIRC is in fact legal under federal laws which overide anything which the states might wish or try to enact.

4. So many uploaders of youtube viral videos should go to prison for 4-10 years.
I get it. This has nothing to do with retaliation by the police.

7. I get it. you're an idiot. I said nothing of the sort. I said technically...
...existing law is on the side of the police. I happen to agree with your (and other's) esstimation of the reason behind the "clarrification" of that law.

And yes, depending on circumstances, many of those uploaders could be charged if the persons recorded chose to make an issue of it. What protects them is not as much the law as the fact that protesting would simply make them look like even bigger idiots.
